Deva Lompop

Deva Lompop, a Shani female, made her living as a bounty hunter, marauder, and mercenary from the era of the High Republic through the Imperial Era. By the time the Galactic Empire rose to power, Lompop was deeply indebted to Jabba the Hutt, owing him far more than mere credits. This debt resulted in her frequent summons by the Hutt crime lord for various assignments. In time, Lompop became associated with the criminal syndicate known as Crimson Dawn.

Biography

Time with the Nihil

During the High Republic Era, specifically in 230 BBY, Deva Lompop was affiliated with the Nihil marauders, serving under the Tempest Runner, Kara Xoo. She was assigned the task of overseeing children abducted by Xoo's Tempest, including Avon Starros. When Starros initially attempted to escape, Lompop apprehended her and delivered her to Zadina Mkampa, threatening to devour the girl if she tried again. While part of the Nihil, she intervened when bullies targeted the Nautolan girl Vroma, preventing them from stealing a durga berry intended for the girl's mothers, and later participated in an attack on Hon-Tallos.

A Dangerous Debt Owed

At some point in her life, Jabba the Hutt intervened to save Lompop's life, thus incurring a debt that went beyond simple repayment. On one occasion, Lompop employed a group of at least six bounty hunters to eliminate the Culisetto warlord Cribiriz Idollax, promising a reward to whoever successfully completed the task. Among the hunters were 4-LOM and Zuckuss, who mistakenly killed Cribiriz's sibling, Sribiriz, believing they had eliminated their target. This mission led to them forming a partnership. At another point in her life, Lompop developed a romantic relationship with the Zabrak arms dealer Jarm Brock.

By the time of the Imperial Era, Lompop transitioned from bounty hunting to working as an information broker based in the Dalnan sector. Despite this change, she was still frequently called upon by Jabba. On one such occasion, she was summoned to Jabba's Palace and pressured into assisting the bounty hunter Boba Fett in locating Brock, whom Jabba suspected of attacking his forces under the orders of Bokku, a member of the Grand Hutt Council alongside Jabba. Jabba promised to absolve Lompop of her debt, although she doubted his sincerity. Fett and Lompop tracked Brock to the town of Mos Entha, where they engaged in a shootout. Fett cornered Brock, but Lompop betrayed Fett, stabbing him with a poisoned blade and rendering him unconscious, though not before he burned her with his flamethrower. Lompop interrogated Brock, who revealed that Crimson Dawn, not Bokku, had hired him. Lompop then proceeded to consume Brock alive, leaving only his head, which she presented to Jabba. Jabba refused to forgive Lompop's debt as he had promised, claiming that Brock had not been returned alive.

Lompop subdued Doc Ragon for information

Later, Jabba enlisted Lompop's help in the search for the carbonite-encased smuggler, Han Solo. However, she had secretly contacted Crimson Dawn, hoping to assassinate Jabba. After tracking Boba Fett to the moon of Nar Shaddaa, she learned from a local that someone resembling Fett had contacted the Besalisk Doc Ragon. She located Ragon at a bar and used seduction to get him drunk and reveal that Fett had paid him to examine and repair the carbonite matrix containing Solo. Lompop informed both Jabba and Crimson Dawn of Fett's location after seeing him enter a tavern, receiving payment for the information. Margo, an official from Crimson Dawn, promised Lompop an opportunity to eliminate the Hutt in the future.

Employment with Crimson Dawn

Subsequently, Lompop traveled to Ord Mantell and completed a bounty for Gyuti, where she crossed paths with the Ubese bounty hunter Boushh. Lompop cautioned Boushh that his conflict with Black Sun would have consequences and that she might be sent to deal with him. Continuing to work for Crimson Dawn, Lompop hired RB-919 on their behalf to repair the destroyed IG-series assassin droid IG-88. After the rebuilt IG-88 killed RB-919, the droid contacted Lompop, who tasked him with pursuing Boba Fett.

Personality and traits

Deva Lompop was a sardonic and persistent bounty hunter, well-known among those who knew her, although some of her peers viewed her with disdain. Her remarks often alternated between threats and jokes, depending on who she was with. She had a fondness for violence, once enjoying a brawl with several individuals on Nar Shaddaa who harassed her, even killing one with her hidden blade. Despite her deadly and menacing nature, she possessed a sense of humor and some moral standards, such as helping the young Nautolan girl Vroma with her bully problem without expecting payment. While working with Boba Fett, she casually criticized Jabba for his use of slave pits, calling him a monster. Lompop also proved to be a loyal individual when she assisted the Starros family, whom she had promised to protect as if they were her own, risking her life alongside them on their adventure. She sometimes failed to take serious situations seriously, even enjoying a drink while under fire. As a shrewd information broker, she had numerous employees and connections.

Deva's reasons for being a bounty hunter likely stemmed from her enjoyment of her luxurious lifestyle. This included owning a manor with servants and hosting parties for her many guests, whom she considered to be working for her, whether they were aware of it or not. When working, she proved to be a skilled strategist and leader, as well as a fearless combatant with her blades and blaster. She could match or even surpass Boba Fett's abilities, having apparently fought and defeated several of Jarm Brock's armed men while Boba Fett pursued three. She had a rivalry with Fett, despite reluctantly collaborating on a mission for Jabba, and often referred to him as "Pup."

Like other members of the Shani species, Deva had sharp teeth and the ability to unhinge her jaw. It was rumored that her species could swallow sentients whole. She was unable to completely consume Jarm Brock's head due to his horns, but she seemed capable of eating a dead stormtrooper killed by Sana Starros. She was not hesitant to mention her species' reputation as man-eaters, telling Boba Fett that she typically ate her former romantic partners, threatening to eat Avon Starros, scaring a young bully who had been tormenting Vroma, and once mentioning that she would look for someone to eat on Naboo after a job. She preferred her meals alive, stating that she disliked "cold" food, but she also enjoyed roast ghara bird served at Jabba's Palace.

Equipment

Lompop carried a variety of weapons, including knives and blasters, which she could easily wield in both hands. During missions, she wore plated armor. Her gauntlets contained hidden blades, which were sometimes coated with a non-lethal but incapacitating poison. She was capable of driving a speeder. In addition to being skilled in hand-to-hand combat, she was familiar with more advanced weaponry, including flesh-melting grenades.

When not working, she wore an elaborate blue gown and a turban while relaxing at home, attended to by her maids and workers. For special occasions, she wore a luxurious white robe, and when seducing targets on a job, she wore an alluring purple, feathered dress.
