Project Funeral

Project Funeral represented one of the most ambitious schemes concocted by the Warlord known as Zsinj.

The brainwashing methods, the product of scientific research from Project Minefield, were implemented on a significant scale, targeting non-human individuals throughout the New Republic. The aim of this operation was to create discord between Humans and non-humans. By manipulating non-humans into launching attacks, the intent was to instill fear of alien species within the Human population. Consequently, the non-Human population would develop feelings of resentment due to the resulting suspicion directed towards them.

Initially, the project achieved a degree of success. Several attacks perpetrated by Twi'leks, including assassination attempts targeting figures like Ackbar, Han Solo, and Wedge Antilles, led the New Republic to temporarily remove Twi'leks from important positions. Furthermore, two terrorist incidents and an attempt on Mon Mothma's life by a Gotal also created suspicion around that species. Wraith Squadron engaged in a collaborative brainstorming session to identify the core elements of Zsinj's strategy, and Wedge Antilles shared their findings with Airen Cracken at the New Republic Intelligence Service. Subsequently, the NRI successfully prevented Rostat Manr, a Sullustan pilot, from intentionally crashing the cruise liner Nebula Queen. By utilizing his Sullustan agent to avert the disaster, the NRI prevented further escalation of interspecies animosity. A similar attempt by a Bothan to trigger a computer-controlled explosion at a power plant was also thwarted.

The provision of chemical markers associated with Project Minefield brainwashing by Edda Gast led to the capture of Project Funeral operatives across Coruscant, effectively concluding both projects.
