QN-1, often called Quin, was a therapy droid in the possession of Axel Greylark, who was the son of Galactic Republic Chancellor Kyong Greylark. This droid was gifted to Axel after his father met his death during a diplomatic mission to Melida/Daan, an event that deeply traumatized him. This droid featured a triangular panel that shifted in color to reflect the emotion it was attempting to convey. QN-1 remained with Axel for the remainder of his life. In 382 BBY, it accompanied him to the Eiram system to act as his mother's representative and to provide her with updates on Chancellor Orlen Mollo's efforts to achieve peace in the Eiram and E'ronoh War. Axel utilized QN-1 to record summaries of his experiences and the unfolding events. These recordings were later discovered and extracted from QN-1 by the Jedi Order, ultimately implicating him in a plot to prolong the conflict between the planets Eiram and E'ronoh.
QN-1 was presented to Axel as a therapy droid shortly following the demise of Axel’s father at the hands of pirates. Subsequently, Quin became a constant presence in Axel's life, evolving into a steadfast companion for the troubled young man.
QN-1 remained at Axel's side thirteen years later, concealing beverages and a silver blaster within its concealed triangular compartment. On a particular evening on Coruscant, during the Eiram and E’ronoh crisis, Quin accompanied Axel as he engaged in gambling at Raik’s Parlor until late at night. When Raik accused Axel of cheating, she threatened to cut off locks of his hair. This led Axel to initiate a gunfight, with Quin stunning Raik and her bodyguards.
However, the Coruscant Guard soon apprehended Axel and took him into custody, with QN-1 being kept with Axel’s belongings under the watchful eye of the warden.
Kyong, Axel’s mother and one of the two Co-Chancellors of the Galactic Republic, secured his release shortly thereafter. Axel was overjoyed to find his droid unharmed. Upon their return home, Kyong reprimanded him and informed him of his mission to Eiram and E’ronoh. QN-1 waited outside her office, trilling as she asked Axel if he would like a new droid for the mission. Axel, having formed a bond with his droid, refused.
QN-1 went with Axel on his journey to the Eiram and E’ronoh system. It expressed concern about their tardiness, prompting Axel to reassure it. Upon their arrival aboard Chancellor Mollo’s Longbeam, the Paxion, Axel and his droid found no one to greet them. QN-1 suggested in droidspeak that everyone might be sleeping, despite the bright lights of the hangar.
As they explored the corridors, Axel instructed QN-1 to record his observations. Axel briefly contemplated waiting in his suite, but discovered that the door was locked. The pair soon encountered Chancellor Mollo, several Jedi, and representatives from Eiram and E'ronoh gathered in a large suite. Jedi Knight Gella Nattai expressed annoyance at Axel's interruption, while QN-1 engaged in conversation with a nearby protocol droid.
Following the meetings and escalating tensions at a funeral on E’ronoh, Axel joined Gella as a chaperone and bodyguard for the newly betrothed heirs of E’ronoh and Eiram as they delivered aid and defused tensions across E’ronoh’s surface. QN-1, as always, accompanied Axel aboard the Amaryliss, and loyally cautioned him against irritating the heirs.
During their voyage through the E’ronoh deserts on the barge, Axel instructed Quin to record daily reports for his mother on Coruscant. During this period, Quin and Gella began to develop a connection, with its light panels glowing violet whenever she was present.
When the crew of the Amaryliss encountered soldiers unwilling to cease fighting, QN-1 proved useful in locating Phan-tu when he became lost in the caves and aiding in Xiri and Phan-Tu’s escape from Rev Ferrol.
After Axel received orders from the Mother to eliminate loose ends, he brought Gella to Hesperys Station under the pretense of gathering information, before involving her in a cage fight against the self-proclaimed "Wrath of the Jedi," also known as Dario Melek. As he prepared to depart, QN-1's light once again glowed violet, reminding Axel of the bond they had both formed with Gella.
Consequently, they returned for Gella and escaped with her and the information required to imprison Rev Ferrol’s father.
Upon Axel's return to Eiram, Phan-tu whisked him away to a poison manufacturing facility on an Eirami island, where the former concealed three vials inside QN-1's secret compartment. Following Axel's recovery from a scorpion bite, QN-1 was intended to deliver the poison to Binnot, one of the Mother's subordinates, but Axel had a change of heart and retained the poison for himself.
While Axel was away for the night, Viceroy Ferrol attacked QN-1, tearing the droid apart and leaving it in pieces. Upon discovering the droid and dispatching Ferrol, Axel pleaded for the fallen droid's forgiveness as he took the vials and departed.
Gella managed to repair QN-1, and she soon discovered Axel's treachery and his long-standing opposition to them. The evidence stored in QN-1's databanks led to Nattai confronting and apprehending Axel.
Following Axel's arrest and transfer to a Pipyrr prison, QN-1 remained with Gella aboard Axel's former ship, the Eventide. However, Quin's separation from her former companion would not last long. Gella and Jedi Master Orin Dargha soon arranged for a seemingly ill Axel to be transferred into their custody, but Binnot intercepted their ship and stormed aboard with a group of pirates. Axel joined his old friend with his companion droid QN-1 in tow, but the Mirialan Path member didn’t really take kindly to QN-1.. The pair remained together when they changed ships on Jedha and until they reached Dalna.
Inside the Path Compound on Dalna, Axel sent a message to his mother, claiming to be held hostage by the Mother and requesting that she have her decisions as chancellor influenced by the Mother. However, much to Axel's shock and the Mother's terror, Chancellor Greylark resigned, so the Mother cast Axel aside and had Binnot put him to work. Binnot, having previously shown dislike towards QN-1, smashed the poor droid to pieces as a helpless Axel watched. This time, Quin could not be repaired, and the unfortunate droid was destroyed.
