The Third Conflict at Mobetta was a battle in space. The combatants were the Rebel Alliance facing off against the forces of the Galactic Empire. It marked the completion of the retrofit of the Strike-class medium cruiser known as the Peregrine. This refit included the addition of gravity well projectors from the Compeller.
The previous engagement led to the complete loss of the Imperial patrol that had been stationed there. Consequently, the Empire became significantly more cautious in that sector. They deployed a larger task force to search for both the Compellor and the missing patrol.
Rogue and Green Squadrons received the assignment of guarding the Airam X7 Factory Gallofree, the modified Strike-class cruiser, and the vulnerable interdictor Compellor. Simultaneously, the shuttle Electro docked with the Peregrine to finalize the upgrades.
The Imperial assault comprised escort transports equipped with proton torpedoes, aimed at any significant vessel or installation. Also present was the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier named Tyrant, carrying a full complement of TIE/LN starfighters, TIE/IN interceptors, and TIE/sa bombers.
While the fighters from the Tyrant engaged Rogue and Green Squadrons, three Gamma-class ATR-6 assault transports belonging to flight group Omicron launched from the carrier's deck. Their mission was another attempt to capture the interdictor for the Empire.
However, Rogue Squadron ultimately defeated the Imperial pilots, and Green Squadron quickly destroyed the lightly armed and armored escort carrier with proton torpedoes.
This triumph held substantial importance for the Alliance. Although the search party dispatched by the Empire was somewhat stronger than the previous one, it remained relatively weak and was easily overcome by the two Rebel squadrons.
The crucial aspect was that the Alliance had successfully equipped one of their fast cruisers with gravity well technology. This effectively provided them with their first ship capable of interdiction. The Compellor had now completed its purpose and was left as a derelict vessel beside the Gallofree, rigged with explosives.
With this accomplished, the Rebels could proceed to formulate their subsequent strategies against Task Force Vengeance.
