The Selu was a YT-1300 light freighter that belonged to the Azzameen family. It served as a transport and freighter for the family's missions and assignments from Twin Suns Transport Services, the Azzameen family's own shipping business, alongside its twin ship, the Sabra. The Selu possessed laser cannons, shielding, a hyperdrive, and a turret, like other YT-1300 line ships, but it was also extensively modified to enhance its protection against raiding forces who might interfere with Azzameen affairs. Aeron Azzameen, a skilled technician and slicer, frequently modified the light freighter and typically piloted it on family assignments; she was the main pilot.
After the significant Battle of Hoth during the Galactic Civil War in 3 ABY, family head Tomaas Azzameen asked Aeron to start training her youngest brother, Ace, in the family business. Aeron used the Selu to train Ace, who was aboard the Sabra, by escorting him on delivery runs and inspection tasks. During one such assignment, the Azzameen siblings discovered that Viraxo Industries, a rival to the Azzameens' shipping company, was actively trying to sabotage the family. In response, Antan Azzameen, Tomaas's brother and co-owner of Twin Suns Transport Services, devised a plan that involved using the Selu. The Selu was renamed the Venix to avoid being identified as an Azzameen ship and was then intentionally disabled during a failed raid on a Viraxo cargo facility. To prevent the ship from falling into Viraxo hands, Ace was forced to destroy the stranded craft as he fled the system in the Sabra.
The Corellian Engineering Corporation produced the YT-1300 light freighter Selu, part of the YT-series of light freighters, which was owned, operated, and maintained by the Azzameen family and their enterprise, Twin Suns Transport Services. The starship, with a length of 34.75 meters, served as both a transport and a freighter, capable of transporting cargo containers ranging from cargo canisters to Class-L types to and from orbital stations. The Selu could achieve speeds exceeding 88 MGLT and had a maneuverability rating of 64 DPF. It was also equipped with a hyperdrive that allowed it to enter hyperspace for deliveries. The Selu's hull plating had a rating of 40 RU, and it used a deflector shield generator that could provide 120 SBD.
For offensive capabilities against pirates or raiders, the Selu featured a forward-facing laser cannon and a dorsal-mounted laser cannon turret that could be controlled from either the cockpit or the turret itself. The ship also had the option to mount additional offensive and defensive systems. Warhead countermeasures, beam devices, and warhead launchers could be added while the ship was in a hangar. A targeting system, capable of tracking ships and projectiles, worked in conjunction with an onboard sensor system used to identify cargoes aboard ships and inside containers. Communications equipment enabled the Selu's pilot to communicate publicly with installations and hostile ships, as well as privately with other Azzameen ships.
Like its twin ship, the Sabra, the Azzameens modified the Selu, including adding an extra seat in the cockpit. The freighter could also use fake transponder codes to change its identity and infiltrate a rival company's supply chain. The ship had a nameplate displaying its name and designation. Externally, the Selu was visually identical to the Sabra and closely resembled the well-known YT-1300 tramp freighter Millennium Falcon, with similar red paint details and plating arrangement. The family's droid MK-09 considered both the Selu and Sabra to be excellent ships.
Around the time of the Battle of Hoth, a crucial battle in the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 3 ABY, the Azzameen family utilized the Selu. Aeron Azzameen primarily flew it on missions for the Azzameen family and their company, Twin Suns Transport Services. The family usually kept the ship in the hangar of their home, Azzameen Station, an orbital facility located in a system within the Garis sector.
After the Battle of Hoth, Tomaas Azzameen decided to teach his youngest son, Ace, the family trade, and asked Aeron to train him. She flew the Selu and gave instructions to Ace, who flew the Selu's sister ship, the Sabra, accompanied by the family's modified maintenance droid, MK-09.

For Ace's initial mission at the controls of a starship, Aeron taught her brother the correct way to dock with and transport a cargo container. The Selu and Sabra were scheduled to travel through hyperspace to the trading platform Harlequin Station, deliver two cargo canisters, and retrieve two Class-K cargo containers for the return journey. After both ships dropped off their cargo on the station and were preparing to pick up the containers, two Pursuer-class enforcement ships, the Enkidu and the Gilgam, arrived on behalf of Viraxo Industries, the Azzameens' competitor, with the intention of raiding Harlequin Station. When the station's security vessel, the IPV-1 Kouerd, fled the system, the director of Harlequin Station requested protection from the Selu and Sabra, as they were the only ships nearby. The two Azzameen freighters moved to intercept the invaders and, after a brief dogfight, forced the Pursuer-class ships to retreat, much to the relief of Harlequin Station. The siblings then collected their containers and returned to Azzameen Station without any further issues.
Later, after Aeron accidentally erased records for several areas in the family's secret cargo fields during a security upgrade she was performing, she once again used the Selu and requested Ace's assistance in the Sabra to manually inspect the affected containers to reconstruct the database. The mission started smoothly, but upon arriving in the second area, they discovered the cargo ferry Raider attempting to steal a pressure tank filled with LOX. After unsuccessfully trying to hail the intruder, Aeron piloted the Selu to intercept the ship. With the Raider's escape route blocked, the Sabra lined up a shot and destroyed the Raider. With the pirate eliminated, the Selu and Sabra completed their scanning and proceeded to the last affected area.
In this third area, the siblings discovered even more unauthorized presence in the formerly secret cargo area: two Razor-class starfighters escorting the Enkidu. Aeron and Ace moved to eliminate the intruding ships once again. While the Sabra engaged the Razor-class fighters, the Selu attacked the Enkidu, which was docked with one of the family's containers. Although Ace and MK-09 managed to destroy the starfighters, the Enkidu escaped. After the Pursuer-class ship left, the Selu and Sabra investigated the family's containers. Eventually, Ace discovered that the container the Enkidu had docked with was filled with illegal spice. To protect the family from an Imperial investigation, Aeron piloted the Selu to retrieve the compromised container and return it to Azzameen Station, where the family would decide what to do with it.
While the constant harassment from Viraxo Industries ships, particularly the Enkidu, was already a problem for the Azzameens, the discovery that Viraxo was actively trying to sabotage Azzameen operations led Antan Azzameen, Tomaas's brother and co-owner of Twin Suns Transport Services, to develop a plan for retaliation. Antan recruited Aeron, known for her skills as a slicer, to install a fake transponder code into the Selu. This code allowed the Selu to broadcast its identification as the Venix, a regular supplier to Viraxo Industries, to avoid suspicion during the retaliatory strike. The Selu, disguised as the Venix, was to deliver the container of illegal spice to the Viraxo cargo facility Viraxo 54 in the Denbo system and then leave, while an Azzameen-created distraction would prompt a visit from local Imperial authorities. Antan hoped that the Empire would find the spice-filled container during its routine post-raid inspection, creating tension between Viraxo and their Imperial allies.

Aeron piloted the disguised ship to Viraxo 54 with the illegal spice in a container that had been repainted to conceal any connection to the Azzameen family or their company. With the falsified credentials working, the Selu joined the line of freighters waiting to deliver their cargo. Ace, piloting the Sabra, and his brother Emon, flying his Firespray-31 craft, Andrasta, were to enter the system shortly after Aeron dropped off the cargo and engage the station's Razor-class fighters.
Unfortunately for the Azzameen plan, the Selu's container deposit was delayed due to a long queue. The brothers arrived before the Selu had a chance to unload the container, and Aeron, noticing that her freighter was under increasing scrutiny, decided to flee the system before the deception was discovered. She informed Viraxo 54 of her intentions, citing the extenuating circumstances of the ongoing raid, but station security ordered the Selu to remain in the queue. Aeron, disagreeing with the station's assessment, ignored the commands to stay, released the spice container, and piloted the Selu toward an exit vector. However, before she could escape, Viraxo 54 disabled the Selu with a barrage of ion cannon blasts. Realizing that her ship was now defenseless and stranded, Aeron called her brothers for rescue. Emon responded, and Aeron abandoned the stranded YT-1300 freighter in a space suit before Emon picked her up in the Andrasta. With Aeron aboard, Emon left the area and ordered the Sabra to destroy the Selu to prevent it from falling into Viraxo's hands. Ace complied before exiting himself just as Imperial forces arrived. Although the plan did not go as intended and resulted in the loss of the Selu, the Azzameen children and their uncle Antan considered the raid a success. Following the mission, the Selu's original nameplate was given to Ace, who mounted it above a hallway entrance in his quarters.

The Azzameen family owned and operated the Selu. Aeron Azzameen frequently piloted the YT-1300, using it for various deliveries for the family. She also performed many of the modifications on both it and its sister ship, the Sabra, including the installation of fake transponder codes.
The 1999 PC game Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance and its Prima Games strategy guide featured the Selu. In the game, the ship served as a guide in the tutorial missions, demonstrating how to pilot starships, inspect objects, and engage enemies.
