SP-156 was the designation given to a stormtrooper of human descent, serving within the Galactic Empire's 97th Legion while stationed on the planet of Sullust. During a period of enforced lockdown within Pinyumb, the capital city of Sullust, taking place in 3 ABY, he was positioned as a sentry at a tram station alongside a fellow trooper, Thara Nyende who was designated "SP-475." It was here that he violated protocol by attempting to initiate unauthorized conversation.
A couple of weeks, precisely fifteen days, later, trooper 156 became part of a stormtrooper team tasked with boarding the VCX-150 freighter named Keepsake, a vessel that had been identified as belonging to rebel forces. The troopers conducted searches of the various compartments before assembling within a corridor, at which point 156 began to examine a utility conduit panel. Concealed behind the panel, he discovered a Chadra-Fan rebel, who, in order to avoid being captured, ultimately triggered a detonator.

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, a human stormtrooper known by the designated identifier "SP-156" served the Galactic Empire as part of the 97th Legion, specifically within the Imperial garrison located on the industrialized planet of Sullust. Approximating the initial year of her service to the Empire, a fellow stormtrooper by the name of Thara Nyende, with the designation "SP-475," served alongside 156, though she never came to know his given name. In the year 3 ABY, following a sabotage attack on the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility perpetrated by a local Sullustan resistance rebel group, troopers from the Ninety-Seventh Legion were dispatched to oversee the imposition of a lockdown and to conduct building searches within Pinyumb, the capital city of Sullust. Shortly thereafter, 156 was assigned to guard a tram station in conjunction with SP-475.
While stationed at their post, 156 inquired of his colleague whether any deaths had occurred as a consequence of the Sullustan resistance's assault on the Inyusu Tor facility, an inquiry that violated the regulations prohibiting idle conversation while on duty. Referencing available reports, 475 responded by indicating that fatalities were unlikely. Subsequently, 156 questioned whether any members of the Empire's forces had been responsible for any killings during the lockdown and the associated raids, a query to which 475 chose not to respond.

A mere fifteen days afterwards, both 156 and 475 were included in a squad consisting of twelve stormtroopers given the task of boarding the VCX-150 freighter known as the Keepsake, which the Imperial Security Bureau had identified as being under the ownership of the Sullustan resistance. The twelve troopers dispersed across the freighter, awaiting instructions before two teams were ordered to inspect the interior of the vessel. A group of eight stormtroopers—including 156, 475, and the team leader SP-113—boarded the Keepsake, with 113 advising his fellow troopers to activate their helmets' night vision capabilities due to the absence of internal lighting.
Exercising caution against potential bombs, the eight stormtroopers systematically scanned the more than half a dozen rooms of the Keepsake for communications signals and power sources before entering. After dedicating ten minutes to searching the bunk room, the troopers received instructions from the garrison to expedite their search. The two teams proceeded, discovering medical supplies, provisions, tools, and datachips holding [propaganda](/article/propaganda] videos. Upon completion, they converged in the hallway that led to the cockpit.
As 113 issued the order to secure the cargo for a thorough forensic examination, 156 noticed an access panel for a conduit located in the corridor and approached it. Following a brief examination of the panel, he forcibly removed it using his rifle, revealing a Chadra-Fan rebel concealed within the confined space. With the stormtroopers raising their weapons, 113 briefly interrogated the rebel regarding the operations of the Sullustan resistance, before directing three other troopers to move in and subdue the alien. However, the Chadra-Fan, unwilling to be taken into Imperial custody, chose to commit suicide by detonating a detonator, resulting in the deaths of several troopers as well.
SP-156 was equipped with the standard armor used by stormtroopers, which incorporated a helmet with night vision and communication capabilities. He also carried a rifle.
SP-156 was a character in the 2015 novel titled Battlefront: Twilight Company, authored by Alexander Freed. Freed's intention was to strip away the humanity from the Imperial hierarchy through the manner in which they treated stormtroopers such as SP-156. He deliberately had the troopers referred to solely by their operating numbers to underscore their treatment under the Empire, a situation he saw as drawing parallels to the treatment of clone troopers.
