Synopsis of the Story

A young Nautolan named Vroma is running through the streets of Hon-Tallos, clutching a Durga Berry. She stumbles, causing the berry to break. A group of children, her pursuers, catch up to her. Ghenli, a human boy, asserts that the berry was his and tells "Tentacle-Heads" like her to stay out of "My" grove. A Shani Nihil named Deva Lompop observes the situation and questions why so much sorrow is being expressed over a berry. Vroma clarifies that the berries are her mom's preferred treat, and she intended to bring some to them. Deva acknowledges that this would be a kind gesture. Vroma further explains that Ghenli is a bully who selfishly takes whatever he desires. Deva advises her to reclaim what was taken. Vroma counters that stealing is wrong. Deva inquires if recovering what rightfully belongs to you constitutes stealing. Vroma is uncertain. Deva concedes that her own moral compass is questionable, but Vroma should not allow others to mistreat her. Vroma retorts that she shouldn't be engaging in conversation with a stranger. Deva introduces herself, identifying as a member of the Nihil. Vroma asks if that's similar to being a Jedi. Deva laughs, stating it's nothing like that, but promises to teach the bully a lesson.

Later, within the grove, Vroma details the usual occurrences when she attempts to gather berries. Deva inquires why she doesn't use the back entrance. Vroma explains that the back route is longer, she needs to be quick to evade Ghenli and his companions, and the woods are dark and frightening. Deva proposes a different approach: one doesn't need to be fast if one is clever, and the bullies will never trouble Vroma again.

The scene shifts to Vroma, once more in the grove, holding a berry. She mutters, "This is a terrible idea." Deva, concealed in the bushes, urges her to trust her plan.

Vroma encounters Ghenli, who reminds her to stay out of the grove. Vroma responds that she wouldn't do that, as the grove guardians would disapprove. Ghenli scoffs, dismissing the existence of such beings. He and his two companions begin chasing her, and we witness the two unnamed friends being abruptly pulled out of view, one after the other. Ghenli turns around, puzzled, and asks where they disappeared to.

Vroma declares that she warned him, and he has angered the guardians. Ghenli accuses her of trying to intimidate him with mere words. At that moment, a voice from the trees booms, "Who dares disturb my groves?" Ghenli demands to know who is speaking. Deva announces herself as the grove guardian, vowing to punish those who do not share. Ghenli dismisses her as unreal. Deva warns that if he ignores her warning, she will devour him. We see her with snapping jaws and a reptilian tongue as she lunges at Ghenli. Ghenli apologizes profusely, promising never to steal from Vroma again as he runs away. Deva emerges, brushing off the vines she used to enlarge her appearance, and exclaims that she's "still got it" as she readjusts her jaws.

Back in town, Vroma expresses disbelief that the plan worked and inquires about joining the Nihil. Deva replies that anyone can join, but they focus more on piracy and theft than stopping bullies. Vroma says her moms wouldn't approve of that. Deva laughs, agreeing that they probably wouldn't, and advises her to go home because she and her friend were planning to have some fun before the Jedi arrive to "ruin everything." The final scene shows Vroma on her way home with the berry, remarking, "what a nice lady," as the city is attacked in the background.
