A group of stormtroopers, serving under the command of Moff Gideon's Imperial remnant, received orders to deploy to the planet Tython. Their objective: to seize the Force-sensitive foundling Grogu during the events of 9 ABY. This unit, led by a Stormtrooper Commander, primarily consisted of standard stormtroopers, alongside one artillery stormtrooper. After suffering significant losses against the combined efforts of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, the Master Assassin Fennec Shand, and the former bounty hunter Boba Fett, the remaining stormtroopers retreated to their landers. However, Fett's rocket destroyed both transports, eliminating the entire remaining force.
In 9 ABY, the stormtrooper unit that was sent to the planet of Tython was comprised of a Stormtrooper Commander leading many standard stormtroopers and a single artillery stormtrooper. The E-11 medium blasters were their standard weapon, but they also brought an E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannon. The artillery stormtrooper carried a model 201 mortar system.
The stormtrooper force was given the mission of capturing the Force-sensitive foundling Grogu. They were transported from Gideon's light cruiser and landed on Tython using two Imperial transports. When they arrived, Fennec Shand, who had taken a position on a nearby hill with an MK sniper rifle, immediately shot down several stormtroopers. The stormtrooper commander and his troops sought cover and identified Shand's high ground position. Ignoring a trooper's objections, the commander ordered a direct assault up the hill into Shand's sniper fire.
As the stormtroopers charged uphill, Shand's sniper fire continued to eliminate many. Boba Fett, who had been concealed behind some rocks, ambushed a group of stormtroopers nearing the hilltop, using his gaderffii stick to brutally kill several. As an artillery stormtrooper began shelling Shand's location with his mortar, another group of stormtroopers set up an E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannon. The mortar fire dislodged a large boulder near Shand, who then pushed it down the hill towards the troopers. The boulder crushed several stormtroopers, destroyed the E-Web, and the stormtrooper commander witnessed the destruction. Immediately after, Boba Fett knocked the commander down and killed him with the sharp end of his gaderffii stick. A second Imperial transport then landed, bringing reinforcements.
Eventually, Shand's position was overrun by stormtroopers, and she fled, taking down over a dozen pursuers. A large group of troopers surrounded Shand, informing her that they were after the child, not her. Din Djarin arrived, using his whistling birds to kill several troopers, and joined Shand in the fight. As the battle continued, Boba Fett arrived in his old reclaimed armor, killing a dozen stormtroopers with his weapons. The remaining stormtroopers were overwhelmed, having suffered massive losses, and attempted to escape back to Gideon's light cruiser in their shuttles. However, Fett's jetpack rocket destroyed both shuttles with a single shot, completely eliminating what was left of the Tython detachment.
