A T-series tactical droid was utilized by the droid army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the period known as the Clone Wars. Following the conclusion of this conflict and the establishment of the Galactic Empire, the Separatist battle droids were deactivated. Subsequently, both the renegade clone unit Clone Force 99 and the siblings Trace and Rafa Martez endeavored to obtain the T-series tactical droid for its valuable data before its impending destruction at a facility located on the planet Corellia. These two factions briefly vied for control of the droid's separated head, but they eventually cooperated to overcome the facility's police droids, reactivating the tactical droid to turn the battle droids against their common enemies. Although the tactical droid's head was destroyed during the confrontation, Hunter, the leader of the clones, ultimately entrusted a data rod containing the droid's intelligence to the Martez sisters to aid their resistance against the Empire.
A T-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid, manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata, was an asset to the droid army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems near the Clone Wars' end, fighting the Galactic Republic. In 19 BBY, the Separatists were defeated, the Clone Wars ended, and the Republic was reformed into the Galactic Empire. As the conflict drew to a close, the Separatist battle droids were decommissioned, and the tactical droid was scheduled for destruction at a decommissioning facility on Corellia during that same year.
However, there was an attempt to save the droid from this fate. With the Republic's clone troopers now serving the Empire, the tactical droids' knowledge of how to defeat them became highly valuable. Two groups sought to rescue a tactical droid from Corellia before the Separatist droids were destroyed: Clone Force 99, a team of rogue clone commandos working as mercenaries for Ciddarin Scaleback, an information broker; and Trace and Rafa Martez, sisters acting on behalf of former Clone Captain Rex, who wanted to use the droid's data to oppose the Empire.
Inside the facility, the tactical droid—partially disassembled, with its head detached but still functional—was being transported on the north end conveyor belt, destined to be melted down. By the time Clone Force 99 entered, it was the last of its kind remaining, the others having already been destroyed. After the clone Omega located the droid, Trace grabbed its head and fled, encountering the troopers Echo and Tech as well as Hunter, the squad's leader. The workers soon discovered the intruders, locking down the facility and deploying Imperial Police Droids.
While the clones fought off the droids, Trace escaped with the droid's head and threw it to Rafa, who accidentally dropped it onto a conveyor after running into a police droid. Both Trace and Omega rushed to recover it, with Omega reaching it first and running away. However, when the clone Wrecker rebooted the facility, causing the conveyors to start moving, Omega tripped and dropped the head, allowing Trace to reclaim it. Trace soon returned to help save Omega, who had become stuck on the conveyor.

The two groups decided to set aside their conflict over the tactical droid and cooperate to escape the facility. Hoping to create a diversion, Trace planned to reprogram the tactical droid to command the deactivated Separatist droids. However, when Omega activated the droid, it failed to transmit and shut down. Tech assisted by amplifying the signal and attaching a data rod to download the droid's intelligence, reactivating the tactical droid. Following Trace's instructions, the tactical droid ordered the battle droids to attack the police droids. With their enemies distracted, the clones and the Martez sisters escaped; however, the police droids shot the tactical droid's head out of Trace's hands, destroying it.

After escaping the facility, Trace expressed her disappointment in failing their mission, while Rafa criticized the clones for not knowing who Scaleback intended to give the information to. After Trace explained that their contact intended to use the information to fight the Empire, Hunter ultimately gave the data rod containing the droid's intelligence to Rafa, believing they would use it for the right purpose.
Rafa later informed Rex that they had successfully acquired the droid's data and the assistance of the rogue clones, while Scaleback was displeased with her mercenaries' failure. When the clones protested their debt to Scaleback, she commented that retrieving the tactical droid would have been enough to settle their account.
Like others of its type, the T-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid was a key component of the Separatist military's operational intelligence, learning from combat experience. It could command other Separatist battle droids. The tactical droid had yellow photoreceptors and blue and gray plating, standing 1.93 meters tall. The droid primarily used "it" and "its" pronouns, but also used "he."

The tactical droid, though unnamed, appeared in "Decommissioned," the sixth episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch's first season, which premiered on Disney+ on June 4, 2021. Liam O'Brien provided the droid's voice. Stev Carey created two concept art pieces for the tactical droid, dated September 9, 2019: one depicting the droid fully intact with a removable head and another showing the droid's head after it had been damaged.
