Unidentified Nightbrother village

A Nightbrother village was the residence of Viscus' clan of the Dathomirian Zabrak warrior group, the Nightbrothers, on the planet Dathomir. Built into the side of the Upper Strangled Cliffs, the village was also home to the Nightbrothers' domesticated bane back spiders. Jedi Master Taron Malicos crash-landed on the planet around the time of the execution of Order 66, and he was brought to the village by Nightbrothers, becoming entangled with the clan's affairs.

Years later, while trying to reach the Zeffo Tomb of Kujet, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis found himself knocked into the depths of Dathomir. On a journey to make his way back to the surface, he passed through the village and learned the story of Malicos and the Nightbrothers.

Description

Located on the Outer Rim Territories planet Dathomir, a village was built into the Upper Strangled Cliffs and was encased by big wooden walls and towers. The village was inhabited by the Dathomirian Zabrak warrior group known as the Nightbrothers, specifically the clan headed by Brother Viscus. A metal drawbridge—which could be raised in order to prevent outsiders from entering the village—over a large gap led to a narrow stone door entrance. Beneath the village was a dungeon used by the Nightbrothers, and nearby was a path leading to the Swamp of Sacrifice. Inside the village, wooden cages hung from the ceiling, torches lit up the village, and homes lined with Dathomirian Glyphs were carved into the side of the rock walls.

The destruction of the Nightbrothers' prior village

In 19 BBY, the Nightbrothers' prior village was destroyed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Second Battle of Dathomir in a campaign against the Shadow Collective. After the battle, the surviving Nightbrothers retreated and built a new village, which they would finish that same year.

Later that year, the Nightbrothers living in the village witnessed the ship of Jedi Master Taron Malicos crash-land in the Swamp of Sacrifice after Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic Palpatine executed Order 66, a special order of the Galactic Republic that aimed to wipe out all Jedi. When the Nightbrothers went to inspect the ship, Nightsister Merrin urged caution, as she sensed something dangerous. In the ship, they found the former Jedi who they apprehended and brought to the village. The strong presence of the dark side of the Force began to drive Malicos insane, and he abandoned the teachings of the Jedi in order to embrace the dark side. Nightbrothers in the village eventually became tired of waiting for Merrin's instructions and, without her permission, chased Malicos through a Collapsed Settlement and eventually recaptured him, although he killed one Nightbrother in the process. Due to this tragedy, some Nightbrothers plotted to kill the fallen Jedi as revenge for the lost lives. Brought to Brother Viscus by the Nightbrothers, Malicos fought Viscus and killed him, seizing control of the Nightbrothers and allying with Merrin and promising vengeance for the massacre of her sisters in 20 BBY.

Visit by Cal Kestis

Padawan Cal Kestis visited the village during the reign of the Galactic Empire.

Padawan Cal Kestis visited the village during the reign of the Galactic Empire.

By 14 BBY, the Nightbrothers had learned how to domesticate bane back spiders that would reside with them in the village. That year, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis was visiting Dathomir to retrieve an astrium from the Tomb of Kujet, the burial site of the Zeffo Sage Kujet. Knocked down from the Treacherous Approach by a Nightbrother who threw a large rock to destabilize the area Kestis was standing on, the Padawan fell into the depths of Dathomir and traveled through the wilderness in an attempt to find his way back to the surface and reach the tomb.

When Kestis reached the village, he was shot at by Nightbrothers using Nightsister energy bows, and the Padawan was forced to retreat into the Swamp of Sacrifice. After finally making it back to the entrance, he climbed into the dungeon using the underside of the lowered drawbridge. He then climbed up the dungeon into the main area of the village, where he engaged in combat with the Nightbrothers, eventually defeating them. Pulling a cage down from a raised platform with the Force, Kestis used the cage to propel himself up and through a passageway so he could continue his journey.

While in the village, Kestis used the Force ability of Psychometry to learn the story of Malicos and the Nightbrothers. From a chest, Kestis acquired the necessary paint for the “Aphelion” paint job for luxury yachts.
