Its position was along the Corellian Run super-hyperroute, between the astronomical entities Rhommamool and Gamor. Additionally, it was situated on the hyperspace route called the Shipwrights' Trace, connecting it to the planet Tynna and ultimately leading to the astronomical body Foless.
During the time when the Galactic Empire held sway, Allanteen VI was the location of a shipyard that evolved into a key manufacturing center for Imperial starships. General Airen Cracken of the then-underground Rebellion's Intelligence branch maintained a network of operatives in the vicinity of Allanteen and other significant Imperial shipyard locations, including Corellia, Fondor, Kuat, and Ringo Vinda. Through these operatives, he compiled data on the Imperial Navy's Star Destroyers and patrol vessels, detailing them in a formal document addressed to Mon Mothma, the leader of the Rebellion, which cited Allanteen VI as part of the investigations.
In 3 ABY, the now-officialized Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry initiated Operation Ringbreaker, a campaign targeting various minor Imperial resource hubs, with the ultimate goal of attacking the Kuat Drive Yards, the Empire's primary source for Star Destroyer production and maintenance. Alliance Intelligence monitored the campaign's progress, and General Crix Madine, encouraged by its initial successes, created a galactic map identifying major Imperial shipyards, drydocks, and mining facilities that could be targeted if the Kuat Drive Yards were successfully sabotaged. This map was included in another official document sent to Mothma. Allanteen VI was marked on the map, noted for its low production rate and security level. However, Operation Ringbreaker was ultimately terminated prematurely. Archivist Hendri Underholt later incorporated both documents mentioning Allanteen VI into a collection of non-electronic materials titled The Rebel Files. In 34 ABY, Allanteen's location was displayed on a partial map of the galaxy on several screens aboard the Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon.
Within the established Star Wars canon, Allanteen VI was initially referenced on a map featured in the fifty-second issue of De Agostini's magazine series, Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, which was released around December 30, 2015. This map used only the abbreviated name "Allanteen." The celestial body received its full designation in the 2017 reference book and boxed set, Star Wars: The Rebel Files, authored by Daniel Wallace. Its first appearance in-universe was as a map depiction that could be viewed in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an interactive role-playing experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, which opened to the public on March 1, 2022.
The planet Allanteen VI has its origins in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it debuted in The Clone Wars: Wild Space, a tie-in novel for the 2008 animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Wild Space was penned by Karen Miller and published on December 9 of that year.
