Bryen Rowne

Bryen Rowne, a human pilot, attained the rank of captain within the Alliance to Restore the Republic. He fought against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Considered one of the Alliance's most skilled pilots, Rowne volunteered for a four-ship team tasked with an attack run targeting the Imperial capital planet of Coruscant. This mission took place between 3 ABY and 4 ABY.

Rowne piloted a RZ-1 A-wing interceptor and was joined by the Twi'lek Freyta Smyth, the Sullustan Nien Nunb, the human Lando Calrissian, and the Wookiee Chewbacca. Calrissian and Chewbacca together crewed the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon. The group successfully infiltrated the Coruscant system and attempted to bypass the planetary defenses at high speed. Despite the mission's overall success, Rowne died during the intense attack run.

Biography

Rowne attending the briefing

Byren Rowne, a human, became a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During the Galactic Civil War that pitted the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire, Rowne distinguished himself as both a captain and one of the Alliance's premier pilots. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Rowne was selected for a team of exceptional pilots put together by General Leia Organa, which included the Twi'lek Freyta Smyth, the Sullustan Nien Nunb, the human Lando Calrissian, and the Wookiee Chewbacca. Onboard the rebel flagship called Home One, Organa informed the team about a unique opportunity to strike a blow against the Empire. This was because Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were preoccupied with a disturbance in the Force, meaning their attention would be diverted from overseeing the Empire as usual.

Rowne then spoke up, questioning the significance of this fact, given the Empire's vast military resources beyond the Sith Lords. Organa acknowledged the validity of the captain's concern but emphasized the need to seize this rare opportunity with a bold operation. She then unveiled the plan: the small team would execute an aerial assault against the Imperial capital planet of Coruscant. For this mission, Rowne would pilot a RZ-1 A-wing interceptor alongside Smyth and Nunb, while Calrissian and Chewbacca would operate the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon. The ships made their way into the Coruscant system and managed to slip into the Coruscant approach lane at security checkpoint Delta-Three by concealing themselves aboard the supply ship Pikka's Pride. From there, the team left the transport and rapidly descended towards the planet.

Rowne moments before they were shot down

As Imperial forces moved to intercept them, Rowne was killed by fire from an orbital platform before the rebels could reach Coruscant. Smyth also perished during the mission, leaving Calrissian, Chewbacca, and Nunb as the only ones to make it out alive. Upon Calrissian's return from the mission, he communicated with Organa via comms to report the loss of Rowne and Smyth, lamenting their unnecessary deaths. Organa shared his grief, acknowledging them as both skilled pilots and admirable individuals, but she also reminded Calrissian that the mission had been accomplished, as the pilots had successfully attacked the Imperial capital and damaged a statue of the Emperor.
