Chodo Habat

Chodo Habat, an Ithorian male and a Force Adept, held the position of leader for the herd that was in charge of the Telosian Restoration Project following the destructive Bombing of Telos IV. Because he could feel the Force, he was a highly regarded spiritual figure among his people. He aided Meetra Surik in regaining a portion of her lost Force-sensitivity in exchange for her assistance in confronting the Czerka Corporation and Exchange leader Loppak Slusk, whose combined acts of sabotage had brought the Restoration project to a standstill. Ultimately, his dedicated efforts successfully transformed the planet's atmosphere, making it once again habitable after the Sith bombardment had turned it into a cloud of acidic vapor. His success would pave the way for similar restoration efforts on twenty other worlds.

Biography

Restoration of Telos IV

The Ithorians were well known for their abilities to bring stability to damaged ecospheres. Habat's goal was to breathe new life into Telos by importing various species of wildlife from planets abundant in food chains, such as Ithor, Onderon, and Dxun. However, the ongoing contract disputes with Czerka, coupled with the political divide on Onderon between supporters of Queen Talia and General Vaklu, jeopardized the arrangement. The Republic blockade following the Blockade of Onderon, during which the Ebon Hawk was targeted by Onderonian starfighters under the command of Colonel Tobin, resulted in significant delays for both the diplomats managing the trade agreements and the merchants whose beast cages were congesting the streets of Iziz due to restricted access in and out of the city caused by the introduction of starport visas. However, with Talia's victory over Vaklu, Onderon remained aligned with the Republic, allowing Chodo's work to continue with their natural resources.

Competition with Czerka

Czerka Executive Jana Lorso

As the relationship between the Republic and Onderon soured, leading to increased costs for acquiring and transporting biological specimens, Czerka seized the opportunity to gain a stronger position in the contract negotiations for the Restoration project. They managed to take control of several Restoration Zones on the planet's surface from the Ithorians. Czerka discovered that the surface of Telos was dotted with military installations that were either destroyed or abandoned during the Sith attack. As part of their contract with the Republic, Lorso was granted permission to utilize these resources to help finance and support the project. The corporation hoped to become an integral part of the process and unlock new markets for Czerka products, should the Republic decide to restore other planets devastated by war. Habat conceded that without Meetra Surik's intervention, his herd would not have been able to effectively deal with them.

Infrastructure droids

G0-T0

Chodo also depended on infrastructure droids to plan and oversee the restoration of Telos. The first of these droids, a G0-T0 infrastructure planning systems from Aratech's commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Tol Cressa in 3955 BBY, vanished on its very first day on Citadel Station. Despite a thorough investigation by the TSF, the reason for its disappearance remained a mystery. However, they ruled out theft, which some of Chodo's herd suspected. Czerka was also suspected of involvement, but in reality, G0-T0 had left of its own accord. The Ithorians acquired a second, less capable droid to replace it. At Chodo's request, Meetra Surik escorted this droid to the Ithorian Compound before it could be stolen by Exchange thugs hired by Czerka.

Cooperation with Bao-Dur

Bao-Dur

During the development of the shield network on Citadel Station, which allowed the Ithorians to purify and reseed small portions of the planet's surface, they collaborated with Bao-Dur, a Zabrak and former military engineer. Bao-Dur was responsible for designing and overseeing the installation of the shield system's components on the planet. When the Ebon Hawk was seized by the Handmaiden Sisters, Chodo advised Surik to seek him out in Czerka-controlled Restoration Zone RZ-0031, confident that his assistance would be extremely valuable. Upon arriving on the planet's surface, Bao-Dur was impressed by the Ithorians' work and angered by Czerka's attempts to undermine it. He was actively sabotaging their operations in the hopes of forcing Czerka to abandon the Restoration Zone, which had begun to deteriorate rapidly since their arrival.

Cooperation with Meetra Surik

While Surik was under house arrest by the Telos Security Force for her role in the destruction of the Peragus Mining Facility, Chodo dispatched his primary representative, Moza, to meet with her and request her assistance.

Surik agreed to broker a truce with Loppak Slusk and rid Chodo's herd of Czerka's presence. She successfully thwarted Jana Lorso, the Czerka Executive, who was attempting to steal their latest infrastructure droid. She also seized Lorso's administrative assistant, B-4D4-GE3, to extract compromising information from the Czerka mainframe, which Chodo intended to expose to the Telosian Council. Later, Surik would rescue Chodo and his herd from a squad of mercenaries hired by Lorso in retaliation.

Habat presented Surik with an heirloom, a lightsaber component that once belonged to a Jedi within his herd. She would eventually use this component to construct her own weapon. He also granted her permission to use one of their orbital shuttles to travel to the planet's surface.

During the Battle of Telos IV, Chodo met Surik one last time on Citadel Station and shared the progress his herd had made since Czerka was barred from contract negotiations for the Restoration project. Despite the ongoing Sith attack, Chodo refused to leave the station, insisting that Moza leave for the sake of other war-torn planets that would need his herd's assistance.

Nearly four millennia later, the Chodo Habat Parkway would be established on Telos IV.

Personality and traits

Chodo Habat was known as a gentle and compassionate being with a deep respect for life. He held a strong desire to see Telos restored to its former glory, teeming with life once more, and he grew concerned when the Czerka Corporation began interfering with the restoration project. As a Force Adept, he could sense the profound wound within Surik and offered to heal her in exchange for her assistance.

Surik agreed, and Chodo fulfilled his promise. He also gifted Surik with a lightsaber component that had belonged to a Jedi within his herd.

Behind the scenes

If the player chooses to side with Jana Lorso, Chodo and Moza will refuse to engage in conversation with them. However, it is possible to work for Chodo while simultaneously smuggling some of his possessions to Samhan Dobo, the Exchange smuggler stationed on Citadel Station.

If Surik aligned herself with Czerka, she would have received the initial component for her lightsaber from Lorso instead of Chodo.
