A task force served as an element within the Kilji Illumine, the nation belonging to the Kilji species, and was under the command of General Crofyp. Its primary flagship was the Kilji war cruiser Anvil, supported by the Kilji picket cruiser Hammer, led by Colonel Tildnis. The Anvil's crew consisted of numerous Kilji vassals, alien beings devoted to the Kilji beliefs. These vassals included Vassal One, Vassal Two, Vassal Three and Vassal Four. The Hammer's crew was composed of various Kiljis.
In 18 BBY, the task force journeyed to the Unknown Regions Rapacc system with the aim of retrieving a group of refugees concealed on the planet Rapacc. This mission was executed on the orders of "Jixtus," a Grysk operative allied with Generalirius Nakirre, the leader of the Illumine. Upon arrival, Crofyp's forces encountered the Paccosh-commandeered Nikardun blockade frigate Aelos. After a short exchange of words, the general prepared an attack, but the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk disabled the Anvil's starboard side before the assault could begin. The Springhawk then destroyed the Anvil, allowing the Hammer to escape to the Sunrise system via hyperspace.
The task force, a component of the Kilji Illumine of the Kilji species, was under the command of General Crofyp. It comprised two warships: Crofyp's flagship, the Kilji war cruiser Anvil, and its sister ship, the Kilji picket cruiser Hammer, commanded by Colonel Tildnis.
In 18 BBY, Crofyp's task force was sent to the Unknown Regions Rapacc system to retrieve a number of refugees. This mission was directed by the Grysk operative known as "Jixtus," who had formed an alliance with Generalirius Nakirre, the leader of the Illumine. Jixtus also assigned Pathfinder navigator Qilori to the Anvil. During the journey through hyperspace to the star system, Qilori halted the Anvil near their destination, noticing that the Hammer had reduced its speed. He informed Crofyp that both cruisers would reach their destination in fifteen minutes, and then continued to navigate the Anvil through hyperspace after the Hammer had positioned itself alongside them.

Upon arriving in the Rapacc system, the Kilji task force was confronted by the Paccosh-commandeered Nikardun blockade frigate Aelos. The captain of the frigate, the Paccosh Uingali foar Marocsaa, questioned the Kiljis regarding their identity and objective. Crofyp introduced his task force, declared his purpose, and ordered the frigate to permit them to proceed to the planet of Rapacc to retrieve the refugees they sought. However, Marocsaa refused, compelling the general to maneuver the task force into a crossfire position to attack the Aelos.
Shortly after the Anvil and the Hammer were in position to attack the frigate, the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk entered the outer system. It launched two ship-disabling plasma spheres at Crofyp's flagship before executing a microjump to join the confrontation between Crofyp and the Nikardun in the inner system. As the spheres approached their target, Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, whose core name was "Thrawn," the commander of the Springhawk, contacted Crofyp. He ordered Crofyp to move away from the Aelos. The general, enraged by the Chiss's order to disengage from the frigate (which the Chiss had designated as their prey), responded by firing laser salvos from the Anvil and the Hammer at the Chiss heavy cruiser, after turning his ships to face their new opponent.
Shortly after the Kilji's laser fire struck the Springhawk, Thrawn's plasma spheres disabled the Anvil's starboard side, including the weapon and defense displays on the bridge. Qilori advised Crofyp to flee, but the Kilji refused, stating that those enlightened by the Kilji religion fought and triumphed. Qilori, calling the Kilji general a fool, abandoned ship in an escape pod, while Crofyp threatened his navigator with a black weapon for deserting his post. The pathfinder escaped, and the Anvil was destroyed after several breacher missiles struck its disabled side. The Hammer then retreated to the Unknown Regions Sunrise system after the Chiss decided to spare it.
Crofyp and Tildnis jointly commanded Crofyp's task force. The Anvil was manned by various Kilji vassals, who were beings devoted to the Kilji religious beliefs. The vassals included Vassal One, a weapons operator, Vassal Two, the sensor operator, Vassal Three, another weapons operator, and Vassal Four, the comm operator. The crew of its sister ship, the Hammer, consisted of seventeen Kiljis.[1]
Crofyp's task force made an appearance in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, which was the concluding volume of Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy by Timothy Zahn.
