DT-F16

DT-F16 was a death trooper commander, specifically a human female, who, together with her assigned squad, had the responsibility of protecting a substantial kyber crystal originating from the Jedha system. This crystal was intended for transport to the Tonnis sector aboard Freighter 2716, where it was scheduled to meet an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer under the command of Captain Slavin. During a brief layover at Faos Station, the freighter was infiltrated by the rebel group consisting of Saw Gerrera, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and the astromech droid Chopper. DT-F16 engaged the rebels in combat; however, she met her end when Saw transformed the kyber crystal into an explosive device connected to the freighter's hyperdrive. Simultaneously, Ezra, Sabine, Chopper, and the prisoners aboard the freighter made their escape using a Lambda-class shuttle that was initially intended for the commander's use.

Biography

DT-F16 commanded a squad of death troopers.

In the year 1 BBY, DT-F16, accompanied by her squad, journeyed aboard Freighter 2716. This Imperial ship, operating covertly and disguised as a civilian transport, was tasked with safeguarding a significant kyber crystal destined for a rendezvous point within the Tonnis sector. Without the knowledge of the majority of the freighter's crew, the rebels Saw Gerrera, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Chopper successfully infiltrated the vessel during a stop at Faos Station. Upon the rebels' discovery of the kyber crystal within the hold, DT-F16 confronted them and issued an order for her death troopers to commence fire. As the troopers rapidly succumbed to the rebels amidst the smoke generated by several smoke bombs deployed by Wren, DT-F16 instructed the remaining troopers to consolidate their positions. During the confrontation, a blaster shot from Gerrera impacted the carbon-frozen crystal, prompting DT-F16 to command a retreat; however, she was the sole survivor, as her remaining troopers were eliminated by Gerrera and Wren.

Subsequently, DT-F16 informed the freighter's captain, Wells, about the rebel infiltration led by Gerrera and requested reinforcements. The captain provided her with reinforcements, emphasizing the critical importance of reclaiming the crystal, as failure would result in severe consequences. Upon the arrival of reinforcements (consisting of four stormtroopers), DT-F16 returned to the hold, only to find that both the rebels and the crystal were missing. The captain then informed her of a loss of communication with the engine room, prompting DT-F16 to proceed in that direction.

DT-F16 is taken down by Ezra Bridger

Upon her arrival, Gerrera, having transformed the crystal into a timed explosive, fled the area after liberating Bridger and Wren. DT-F16 and the stormtroopers prepared to engage, but before they could act, the crystal emitted an electrical discharge, incapacitating the two troopers positioned in front of her. Recognizing the immediate danger, she ordered the remaining troopers to evacuate the ship. She then proceeded to hold 12, where a Lambda-class shuttle awaited her departure. However, upon reaching the location, she discovered that the freighter's prisoners, who had been freed by the rebels, were in the process of boarding. She and the two troopers accompanying her attempted to open fire, but Bridger and Wren, who had also arrived, successfully subdued her and the two troopers before boarding the shuttle and departing. Refusing to concede defeat, DT-F16 made a desperate attempt to destroy the shuttle with her blaster, ultimately killed in the resulting explosion.

Personality and traits

DT-F16, a female death trooper, possessed a mechanical vocal quality. Her appearance was characterized by complete coverage in black armor, complemented by a visor with a green tint. DT-F16 exhibited a strong determination to ensure the secure delivery of the large kyber crystal to Slavin's Star Destroyer, driven by a fear of the ramifications of failure. She was armed with an E-11D blaster. As a commander, while DT-F16 demonstrated leadership capabilities, she was ultimately unsuccessful in apprehending the rebel boarders and preventing them from destroying the kyber crystal and escaping with the prisoners.
