Serving as a dignitary for the Royal House of Naboo was human Ebenn Q3 Baobab. Alongside his diplomatic duties, Baobab functioned as a linguist, delving into the study of languages from both extant and extinct species, which led to his authorship of the Easy Ubese Phrase Book. After the Trade Federation's defeat during the Battle of Naboo in 32 BBY, Baobab joined a group standing with Queen Padmé Amidala of the planet Naboo in Theed, the world's capital city, to greet the passengers disembarking from the CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle Perpetuus. Following the shuttle's landing, Amidala delivered some final words to the captured Federation leaders, Viceroy Nute Gunray and Settlement Officer Rune Haako, before their escort to the waiting transport.
Subsequently, the queen extended a greeting to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, who had journeyed from Coruscant accompanied by members of the Jedi High Council. Years later, Princess Leia Organa, Amidala's daughter, requested a copy of Baobab's book from Alliance Intelligence. This was part of her preparation for a mission in 4 ABY to rescue the smuggler Han Solo, during which she adopted the guise of the Ubese bounty hunter Boushh.
Sound designer Ben Burtt made a cameo appearance as Ebenn Q3 Baobab in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, a film from the 1999 prequel trilogy. This scene was shot during planned reshoots at Leavesden Studios in 1998. While the character's name entered the new Star Wars canon via Daniel Wallace's 2017 reference book, Star Wars: The Rebel Files, it originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity. There, Burtt himself conceived the name for his 2001 reference book, Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide. Burtt chose the name Baobab to connect his cameo to Mungo Baobab from the animated television show Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
In Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition, author Adam Bray named the model of airbrushes used by Sabine Wren in the Star Wars Rebels television show as the Baobab EZ3 Airbrush after Ebenn Q3 Baobab, with the intention of suggesting that "EZ3" was a descendant of "EQ3" Baobab.
