Endicott

A human named Endicott held the rank of lieutenant within the Galactic Empire. He fought for the Empire during the Galactic Civil War, which pitted the Empire against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In the year 4 ABY, Endicott found himself stationed aboard the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, a powerful superweapon. His duties included overseeing the arrival of Darth Vader's, the Sith Lord, Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, designated ST 321.

Upon Vader's landing, the lieutenant promptly instructed that Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, the station's commander, be notified of the Dark Lord's arrival. Later, during the Battle of Endor, he stood on the Death Star's Overbridge as it unleashed its initial barrage upon the Alliance Fleet. Sadly, Endicott met his end when the battle station was obliterated.

Biography

Vader's arrival

Endicott oversaw the arrival of Darth Vader on board the Death Star II.

During the Galactic Civil War, which was waged against the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Endicott, a human, was a lieutenant within the Imperial Officer Corps of the Galactic Empire. In 4 ABY, he was assigned to the Death Star II, a superweapon then under construction in orbit above the forest moon of Endor. From a command room overlooking one of the battle station's hangars, the lieutenant supervised operations when the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle "ST 321," carrying the Sith Lord Darth Vader, began its descent towards the Death Star.

Endicott observed Jad Bean, the station monitor, as he verified the shuttle's security codes and then deactivated the deflector shield of the hangar, permitting the starship to enter. After watching the shuttle land through a viewport into the hangar, Endicott swiftly turned and instructed Bean to inform Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, the commander of the Death Star, about Lord Vader's presence. Subsequently, Jerjerrod greeted Vader in person as the Sith exited his shuttle.

Battle of Endor

Endicott witnessed Jerjerrod give the order for the Death Star II to fire its first shot in the Battle of Endor.

Later, the Alliance Fleet attacked the Death Star, mistakenly believing it to be vulnerable due to its incomplete state. However, this was a deliberate deception orchestrated by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine to lure the rebels into a trap. During the ensuing battle, Endicott was on the Death Star's Overbridge when Jerjerrod commanded the activation of the Death Star's fully operational superlaser, which fired upon the rebel fleet, obliterating the MC80 Star Cruiser Liberty.

Despite being caught off guard by the superlaser, the rebels eventually turned the tide of the battle when a strike team on Endor succeeded in destroying the bunker that housed the Death Star's shield generator. Endicott died when the superweapon was destroyed.

Personality and traits

Endicott possessed fair skin, brown hair, and blue eyes.

Skills and abilities

Endicott exhibited slightly above-average intelligence and diplomatic capabilities, average speed, and somewhat below-average strength and combat skills. He lacked Force-sensitivity.

Equipment

Endicott was clad in a black Imperial officer's uniform, complete with a cap and a silver utility belt.

Behind the scenes

Endicott was portrayed by Glyn Baker.

Endicott's character was conceived for the 1983 film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, where he was brought to life by Glyn Baker. In current canon, the character received his name for the first time on a card featured in the 2018 Topps Star Wars Galactic Files trading card set, released by The Topps Company, Inc.

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Endicott made his initial appearance, unnamed, prior to the film's release in the novelization of Return of the Jedi, penned by James Kahn. He was later identified as Endicott for the first time on a card in the July 2000 Death Star II Limited expansion set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game.

Deleted scene

Endicott appeared in a scene deleted from Return of the Jedi.

Endicott was also part of a scene that was filmed for Return of the Jedi but ultimately removed from the final cut of the film. The scene, like the superlaser firing sequence, takes place on the Death Star's Overbridge and depicts Endicott informing Jerjerrod about the destruction of the shield generator on Endor. Subsequently, Jerjerrod issues orders to destroy Endor itself, and Endicott relays these instructions to the personnel present in the room. This deleted scene was officially released as part of the 2011 Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray set.

While Endicott's single line of dialogue in the theatrical release of Return of the Jedi is delivered with an American accent, the deleted scene features the character speaking with a British accent. This suggests that Glyn Baker's voice may have been dubbed over for the film's final version.
