Ferpil Wallaway

title: Ferpil Wallaway

Ferpil Wallaway, a male Xexto, made his living as a pawnshop proprietor and pickpocket on the planet of Lothal. He served as a mentor to Ezra Bridger, a youthful thief who lived on the streets. He was in the process of selling tickets to "Gladiator Night," an unsanctioned event organized by "The Commissioner". Lieutenant Jenkes, secretly "The Commissioner," later fatally shot him in his shop after arriving to collect his portion of the credits. Shortly after, Ezra and the bounty hunter Bossk discovered him dying, and he revealed "The Commissioner's" identity to them. He breathed his last breath in Bridger's arms.

Biography

Pickpocket schemes

During the Galactic Empire's reign, Ferpil Wallaway, a male Xexto who owned a pawnshop and practiced pickpocketing, resided in Lothal's Capital City. His pawn shop was situated across from the derelict Go-Lothal Hotel. His profession brought him into contact with various underworld figures. Several years before the Battle of Yavin, Ferpil was employed by a shadowy criminal known as "The Commissioner," who was, in reality, a corrupt Imperial Security Bureau officer named Lieutenant Jenkes. Ferpil remitted a portion of the credits he earned from pickpocketing and ticket sales for "Gladiator Night," an illicit fighting competition held at Monad Outpost. To aid his pickpocketing and ticket distribution endeavors, Ferpil enlisted the services of Ezra Bridger, a human orphan who lived on the streets of Capital City.

Before Gladiator Night, Ferpil tasked Ezra with selling tickets for the event at Capital City's spaceport. Ezra successfully sold tickets to a Chagrian tourist and his Twi'lek companions, but he also seized the opportunity to pilfer his Imperial pin, a bejeweled ring, a wrist comm, and the majority of the contents of his money pouch. Shortly after, Ezra encountered Ferpil in the crowd and informed him that he had managed to sell five additional tickets. Ferpil praised his employee but cautioned him to be vigilant for Imperial spies and warned him against getting caught pickpocketing. While Ezra was preoccupied, Ferpil collected Ezra's rag-wrapped credits, which he had managed to steal from the Chagrian tourist.

Subsequently, Ferpil informed Ezra that the credit chips were destined for the Commissioner and assured Ezra that he would receive his share after the Gladiator Night fight. The Xexto then subtly returned the remaining valuables to Ezra and instructed him to bring them and the datapad back to his shop later, where he would compensate Ezra. When Ezra inquired about the Commissioner's identity, Ferpil admitted that he was unaware. During their conversation, Ezra exploited Ferpil's distraction to "borrow" his chronometer. Before departing, he asked Ferpil if he still required his chronometer. Ferpil lauded Ezra's pickpocketing abilities before retrieving his chronometer. Before leaving, he wished Ezra farewell and returned to his shop.

Bounty hunter dangers

Not long after, Ezra Bridger became embroiled in an adventure with the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk, who had journeyed to Lothal to collect a bounty on the Dug fugitive Gronson Takkaro. However, Takkaro was an old friend of Jenkes, who plotted to kill Bossk and his local guide. After his stormtroopers failed to eliminate Bossk and Ezra, Jenkes reviewed several holocam recordings and quickly discovered that Ezra was employed by Ferpil. To conceal his criminal activities, Jenkes resolved to kill Ferpil as well and instructed his RA-7 protocol droid to fetch an armored landspeeder.

Jenkes drove to Ferpil's Pawn Shop and revealed to Ferpil that he was the Commissioner. After demanding that the Xexto surrender his credits, he shot Ferpil in the chest with his blaster. By the time Ezra and Bossk arrived, Ferpil was dying, with two of his six arms contorted beneath his body. Before his death, Ezra managed to converse with Ferpil and learned that Jenkes was the Commissioner and had come for his credits. While Ezra was initially angry with Bossk for waiting in their landspeeder, Bossk explained to Ezra that Jenkes would have killed them as well if they had attempted to intervene. After seizing Ferpil's ammo packs, the two drove to Monad Outpost to confront Jenkes. Following a struggle, they succeeded in exposing Jenkes' illicit activities to the Imperial authorities, who had the corrupt lieutenant executed.

Personality and traits

As a Xexto, Ferpil Wallaway possessed a small head with prominent dark eyes, a slender, elongated neck, and six arms. He utilized the lower pair as legs. He was a proficient pickpocket who imparted his skills to Ezra Bridger, a young human street urchin. Ferpil also possessed a keen sense of humor and was a just employer who promised to compensate Ezra for his share of the work. Ferpil also displayed a lack of interest in uncovering the identity of his boss, the "Commissioner," and was solely concerned with timely payments.

Equipment

Ferpil Wallaway owned a datapad and wore an inexpensive chronometer around his waist.
