Glee Anselm

Glee Anselm, an ocean planet situated within the Jalor system of the galaxy's Mid Rim, served as the original homeworld for both the Anselmi and Nautolan species. During the time of the Clone Wars, the Star Tours travel agency featured vacation packages to Glee Anselm. Throughout the reign of the Galactic Empire, the senators who represented this planet in the Imperial Senate displayed unwavering allegiance to the Empire. Furthermore, Glee Anselm held the distinction of being the birthplace of the criminal Tobias Beckett and the esteemed Jedi Master Kit Fisto.

Description

Within the galaxy's [Mid Rim](/article/mid_rim_territories], Glee Anselm existed as a planet found in the Jalor system. Its surface was entirely dominated by water, lacking any substantial landmasses. The deep oceans remained untouched by sunlight, resulting in the Nautolan people evolving with dark eyes capable of discerning details in the dim depths. Scattered across its oceans were small islands, each harboring jungles, mountains, beaches, and grassy expanses.

History

Legends say Glee Anselm once possessed a continent teeming with life, but it submerged into the seabed millennia before the fall of the Galactic Republic.

Before the Clone Wars began, Grand Master Yoda of the Jedi Order orchestrated a test for Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, tasking them with locating him on Glee Anselm.

In 3 BBY, Glee Anselm was one of a mere forty planets that still maintained representation in the Apprentice Legislature. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan possessed a bed crafted from hardwoods sourced from Glee Anselm.

Inhabitants

Glee Anselm served as the native world for two sentient species: the Anselmi and the Nautolans. The Anselmi resided on land, whereas the Nautolans thrived in the water. The Anselmi harbored resentment towards their aquatic counterparts, whom they derisively called "gill heads," and sought to exert dominance. Humans also lived on the planet, along with creatures such as lizard-gulls, whales, and the wooriid.

Glee Anselm was initially referenced in the Star Wars Legends novelization and junior novelization of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, penned by R. A. Salvatore and Patricia C. Wrede, respectively, both of which debuted in 2003. The world's status as canon was solidified in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Children of the Force," where it was mentioned by Mace Windu and subsequently displayed as a hologram in the fuel computer of the Xanadu Blood.

The Clone Wars production team once contemplated depicting Glee Anselm in a tangible form within the episode. Concept art was developed, illustrating the Nautolans dwelling in cities situated on the backs of colossal turtles that surface for air every few centuries.
