Haneli

Haneli, a planet of the terrestrial type, was situated within the Expansion Region and served as the homeworld for the exquisite haneli flowers. Back in 382 BBY, Supreme Chancellor Orlen Mollo had a penchant for savoring Haneli Flower Tea, a beverage crafted from the planet's distinctive flowers. During the New Republic's reign, Izal Garsea, a student, journeyed to this world with the intention of smuggling some of the flowers for her professor—who was known for brewing potent tea from them—amidst the planet's dry spell, but she was apprehended and lost her haul. Sometime between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Strono Tuggs, an Artiodac chef, made his way to Haneli once the drought had ended, gathering some of the flowers and chronicling his experience in his cookbook titled The Ultimate Cookbook.

Description

Located in both the Expansion Region and the Trailing Sectors, Haneli was a terrestrial planet. The world was the native source of Haneli flowers, a flower variety used in several applications, notably the creation of Haneli Flower Tea.

History

Haneli Flower Tea could be brewed from haneli flowers collected on Haneli.

During the High Republic Era, Haneli flowers were harvested from Haneli and then processed into Haneli Flower Tea. As part of his daily morning habit in 382 BBY, Supreme Chancellor Orlen Mollo of the Galactic Republic consumed a cup of this tea while he was aboard the Alif-class Longbeam starship named Paxion while traveling to the Eiram system.

During the New Republic Era, a genetic science professor at an academy on the Mid Rim world of Eroudac brewed a strong version of Haneli Flower Tea using flowers sourced from Haneli, and Strono Tuggs, the Artiodac chef, consistently kept a pot of it in his culinary space. A drought occurred on Haneli between 21 ABY and 32 ABY, causing a significant surge in the cost of haneli flowers. The professor then employed [Izal Garsea](/article/izal_garsea], one of her students, to smuggle a quantity of the flowers for her, as the teacher could no longer afford them given her salary. Garsea was discovered as she attempted to board her starship, the Meridian, with the flowers and subsequently abandoned the illicit cargo, deciding against returning to the academy.

Some years following the deaths of her parents, in 34 ABY, Garsea shared the narrative of her smuggling attempt on Haneli with her friend Julen Rakab, a farmer from the Outer Rim planet of Batuu. In that same year, the historian Eloc Throno featured Haneli on a map within his guidebook, Traveler's Guide to Batuu. Between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Tuggs embarked on a culinary journey across the galaxy. By this time, the drought had ended, and the Artiodac made a stop on Haneli to freely collect some haneli flowers as the final part of his tour through the Expansion Region. Tuggs later utilized the flowers he collected to brew a pot of Haneli Flower Tea on the burner within his food freighter while en route to the Mid Rim. He then documented his visit to Haneli and incorporated a recipe for the tea into his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was released in 35 ABY.
