Kanan Issue #6 represents the sixth installment of the canon comic book series entitled Star Wars: Kanan. Greg Weisman served as the writer for this issue, while Jacopo Camagni provided the illustrations. Marvel Comics released it on September 23, 2015.
Kanan Jarrus, still troubled by memories of Kaller, reluctantly joins the other Spectres on a simple mission to Kaller. Their goal: retrieve supplies for the Tarkintown refugees on Lothal. The Ghost lands at the location provided by Fulcrum, the site where Jedi Master Depa Billaba made her final stand during Order 66. However, they discover that the crates have already been emptied.
Soon after, they are approached by an armed group led by Gamut Key, the Kalleran Governor who works for the Galactic Empire. He states that they received information about smugglers using the area as a drop-off point. Hera Syndulla denies the accusation, claiming they only found empty crates upon arrival.
Key requests permission to search their ship. Syndulla agrees. During the search, Kanan hopes the Governor won't recognize him as the Padawan Caleb Dume. After the search, Governor Key is convinced they are not smugglers and leaves with his men. Kanan is relieved that the Governor didn't recognize him after 14 years.
Hera decides they will find the missing shipment themselves. Kanan is surprised as Garazeb Orrelios questions the plan, given their lack of knowledge about the planet. Kanan acknowledges Zeb's point, but Sabine Wren reminds them that Tarkintown is depending on them. Kanan suggests finding another solution, but Chopper supports Hera and Sabine. When Kanan says they don't know where to begin, Ezra Bridger suggests that thieves often hide in crowded places, asking where the nearest large city is.
The Spectres travel to Plateau City on the Ghost. Hera asks Kanan if he's okay, noticing his nervousness. Kanan tries to reassure himself that he won't be recognized. Kanan persuades the Spectres to split up to cover more ground but prevents Hera from joining him, instead assigning her to accompany Ezra because he was a thief. Ezra jokes that a loth-rat like him will "see which way the wind blows." Kanan sends Zeb with Sabine but takes Chopper with him.
Kanan revisits his old hiding spots from the Great Jedi Purge. He encounters an [Aqualish] who mentions that Janus Kasmir, his former partner, is a successful smuggler. Since Kasmir's ship, the Kasmiri, isn't at the Plateau City spaceport, Kanan goes to his old friend's secret hideout. Instead, he finds Tápusk in the office, working on holoscreens.
When Tápusk doesn't recognize him, Kanan pretends they haven't met and claims Kasmir mentioned him, calling Tápusk a "tuft sucker." Tápusk's henchmen, including two humans, a Rodian, and an Ithorian, surround Kanan and Chopper. Seeing the missing crates in a warehouse, he tells Tápusk and his men that the supplies belonged to his operation and that tipping off Gamut Key was even worse than stealing them. Tápusk replies that informing Key keeps him in good standing and claims the supplies as his.
Kanan disagrees and headbutts Tápusk. He then fights Tápusk's henchmen, knocking the heads of a Rodian and a bald human together. Using his Force abilities and reflexes, Kanan defeats the Rodian, the second human, and the Ithorian, knocking out Tápusk and his men. Kanan informs Hera that he has recovered the stolen supplies. At that moment, Chopper waves his appendages wildly.
Despite Chopper's warnings, Kanan is stabbed in the back by Tápusk. However, Kanan throws Tápusk aside. As Kanan tends to his bleeding shoulder, Governor Key arrives and greets Kanan as a potential "business" partner. Key explains that Tápusk has been using him for his own purposes for the past fourteen years.
When Kanan asks why Key is alone, Key says that some members of his "constabulary" have become too loyal to the Empire. Key tells Kanan that he is tired of serving multiple masters, including the Galactic Republic, Separatists, and the Empire. Realizing that Kanan's crew are not ordinary smugglers, Key offers his assistance. He thanks Kanan for finding the smuggled supplies before departing.
Having found a possible ally, Kanan contacts Hera, who is on her way. While talking to Hera, Chopper waves his appendages frantically. As the wound on his shoulder bleeds, Kanan collapses. A hologram of his younger self, Master Billaba, Janus Kasmir, Captain Styles, and Commander Grey appears above him and Chopper.
