Kent

Kent was a male human who held the rank of commander and piloted an X-wing starfighter for the Sector Patrol of the New Republic. In the era of 9 ABY, following a distress call received from Kh'ymm, an astronomer situated on the Observatory Moon, Kent, together with another pilot, received orders to apprehend "Crimson Jack", a notorious pirate. Above the moon, Kent and his fellow pilot pursued their target, who was escaping aboard their starship with several children. However, they were unable to intercept them without endangering the children.

Later, the children reached out to Kh'ymm, seeking assistance when pirates invaded their homeworld of At Attin. Kh'ymm relayed this information, including the location of At Attin, to the New Republic. Subsequently, Kent commanded a squadron to At Attin and successfully defeated the pirates by destroying their frigate.

Biography

Desparate dispatch

Kent (foreground) and another pilot traveled to the Observatory Moon to arrest Crimson Jack.

Within the New Republic's Starfighter Corps, Kent, a male human, held the position of commander within Sector Patrol, piloting an X-wing starfighter. During the New Republic Era, specifically around 9 ABY, Kh'ymm, an astronomer stationed on her Observatory Moon, signaled the New Republic. She reported the arrival of "Crimson Jack", identified as a pirate, accompanied by a group of children believed to be kidnapped. In response, the New Republic tasked Kent and another pilot with apprehending Crimson Jack, with Kh'ymm offering to delay him until their arrival.

As Kent and his wingman approached the Observatory Moon in a T-65B X-wing starfighter, Kent attempted to establish communication with Kh'ymm. He informed her of their imminent arrival and requested an update on Crimson Jack's location. However, the pirate, also known as Jod Na Nawood, intercepted the message and realized that the astronomer was stalling him. He then brandished a blaster pistol at her. Kh'ymm refused to call off the X-wings, and following a brief confrontation, the pirate and the children fled from the astronomer's telescopic array just as Kent and the other pilot flew over the structure. The starfighters then initiated a patrol of the area, activating their search lights.

Chasing children

Kent pursued the Onyx Cinder above the Observatory Moon.

Upon reaching their starship, the Onyx Cinder, the children initially resisted boarding with Na Nawood. The child KB even amplified her voice in an attempt to alert the New Republic patrol. However, before the X-wings could arrive, Na Nawood convinced the children to board, falsely claiming that Kent and the other pilot were Kh'ymm's henchmen and would not offer assistance. Subsequently, the New Republic pilots observed the Onyx Cinder taking off and commenced pursuit, firing warning shots at the vessel.

As they circled the starship, Kent's wingman contacted the vessel and ordered Crimson Jack to land immediately. However, the pirate terminated the transmission prematurely. Na Nawood then instructed the children Wim and Fern to operate the Onyx Cinder's gun turrets, tasking them with keeping the New Republic pilots at bay. The children gleefully complied, firing sporadic shots at the X-wings. The two fighters broke formation, and Kent's vessel sustained a glancing blow. In retaliation, Kent fired an ion shot that disabled one of the Onyx Cinder's engines. Na Nawood then utilized the remaining engines to create a cloud of moon dust behind them. The X-wings lost sight of the Onyx Cinder in the cloud, allowing it to jump to hyperspace.

Kh'ymm berated Kent for letting the Onyx Cinder escape.

Following the escape, the New Republic pilots returned to the array and landed, with smoke emanating from Kent's cockpit as it opened. Kh'ymm approached the commander's fighter and reprimanded them for allowing the Onyx Cinder to escape. However, Kent explained that intercepting the vessel would have posed too great a risk to the children on board. They then inquired about the ship's destination, but Kh'ymm warned the pilot that they would not believe the answer, as the children were attempting to return home to At Attin, a planet widely regarded as a myth.

Delayed saviors

Despite being betrayed by Jack, the children eventually made their way back to At Attin. However, the pirate accompanied them and seized control of the planet, bringing a frigate filled with pirates to oppress the citizens and control the Old Republic Mint located there. With the assistance of her friends, KB managed to send a message to Kh'ymm, requesting help and revealing the true location of At Attin, which Kh'ymm then shared with the New Republic. Kent subsequently led a squadron of X-wings and A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters to At Attin, entering the planet's atmosphere after the Barrier that surrounded the world was deactivated.

Kent led a squadron in attacking pirates on At Attin.

As they flew over the city being attacked by the pirate's frigate, Kent ordered the squadron to lock their S-foils in attack position. Following a response from the pilot Cail-tan and a Tarsunt squadron member, the X-wings strafed the top of the pirate vessel. The pirates on the ground began retreating to the frigate on dropships and engaged the New Republic fighters as they did so. However, once the B-wings engaged the frigate, the vessel slowly crashed to the ground, signaling the pirates' defeat.

Personality and traits

Kent possessed light skin and demonstrated a reluctance to risk stopping the Onyx Cinder due to the presence of children on board.

Equipment

Kent piloted a T-65B X-wing starfighter.

Kent wore an orange flight suit paired with a gray flight harness and gloves. Their K-22995 light flight helmet featured a predominantly gray color scheme with white accents on the lower portions of both sides and along the mohawk strip, which was further distinguished by a black line running down the center and at the end. A white New Republic starbird symbol adorned each side of the helmet's front, enclosed within a red-bordered section. The sides also featured a blue square at the base, bordered in yellow.

Along the top of at least one side, Kent displayed five yellow victory decals. The commander piloted a T-65B X-wing starfighter with blue markings and a yellow New Republic starbird crest on each side. The fighter bore Aurebesh writing on its side, including "LK68," and was equipped with ion weaponry on its lower wing tips.

Behind the scenes

Kent was played by Andy Powers in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the live-action series on Disney+. His first appearance was in "Very Interesting, As an Astrogation Problem," the third episode which aired on December 10, 2024. While the character's name isn't spoken in the episode, it's listed in the credits. The astromech droid accompanying Kent is shown inconsistently with different head shapes in different shots, sometimes with an R4 head and other times with an R5 head.
