Following the Jedi Civil War, a collective of Mandalorian warriors, united under the banner of Clan Ordo, emerged under the leadership of Mandalore the Preserver. This group, known as the Mandalorians, consisted of numerous veterans from the Mandalorian Wars, along with new recruits, all driven by a shared desire to revive the Mandalorian identity and reclaim their standing in the galaxy.
With the conclusion of the Mandalorian Wars above Malachor V, the surviving Mandalorians once more dispersed across the stars. While some returned to Mandalore, many more became mercenaries, gaining a reputation as Mandalorian soldiers of fortune. In contrast to their predecessors, these warriors were primarily focused on financial gain, often disregarding honor and morality in their pursuits.
As a reward for his assistance in defeating Darth Malak's Sith Empire, the warrior and mercenary Canderous Ordo obtained the traditional mask of Mandalore from the former Sith Lord Revan. Canderous then embarked on a mission to reunite the scattered Mandalorians and restore their lost honor. During his journey, he encountered a dying Taung who claimed to be the true Mandalore, denouncing Mandalore the Ultimate as a Sith-aligned usurper. Before his death, the Taung entrusted Canderous with his armor and clan, tasking him with preserving the ancient traditions. Canderous accepted this charge, integrating the mask into the helmet and donning the armor as Mandalore the Preserver. Mandalore then reclaimed the abandoned outpost previously utilized by Mandalorian forces during the war, establishing it as the central base for his reconstruction efforts.
Five years following the Jedi Civil War, Meetra Surik was compelled to land on Dxun due to the actions of Colonel Tobin's space forces while searching for Jedi Master Kavar on Onderon. A Mandalorian sentry discovered her and brought her to the Mandalorian base. Mandalore agreed to grant her safe passage to Onderon, contingent on her proving her worth. After successfully completing several tasks, including preventing Tobin's scouts from discovering the base and rescuing the lost warrior Kumus, Mandalore consented to assist her. However, just before their departure, Sith assassins, who had been monitoring her progress since an incident on Peragus, attacked the base. Surik aided in defending the base against the invaders before departing.

Once their affairs on Onderon were concluded, Mandalore announced his intention to accompany Surik on her journey, citing two reasons: the potential for the Sith to dominate the Mandalorians if the Jedi were completely defeated, and his own desire to seek out additional clans. He located such clans on Nar Shaddaa and Dantooine. When the Battle of Telos IV commenced, the Mandalorians joined the fight against the Sith, playing a crucial role in the destruction of the Ravager, the personal flagship of Darth Nihilus. Having largely restored their honor through this conflict, the Mandalorians began the process of re-establishing their position in the galaxy.
While Mandalore did not reinstate the exact hierarchy of the Neo-Crusaders, all the warriors he managed to recruit utilized Neo-Crusader armor. The golden armor of the Field Marshals was worn by both the drill instructor Xarga and the champion of the Battle Circle, Bralor. Conversely, Kelborn, Mandalore's second-in-command, sported the crimson armor of the Rally Masters, as did a guard captain and a sergeant within the camp.
Their arsenal included at least one Basilisk war droid, salvaged from the Mandalorian Wars. This type of droid, resembling a starfighter more than a typical droid, was modified to accommodate a crew of three. They also frequently employed a G-Type light shuttle, which Mandalore used to transport Meetra Surik to Iziz.
The banner adopted by the Mandalorians under Clan Ordo bears a resemblance to that of the Infinite Empire.
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, during the Sith Assassins' attack on the Mandalorian camp, it is possible for any of the named Mandalorians to die and become a corpse if their health is critically low and they sustain multiple hits.
