Mining Guild protectors were tasked with safeguarding the assets of the Mining Guild, which encompassed both refineries and their designated spacial sectors. These protectors not only served as ground-based troops for the Mining Guild's facilities but also possessed the skills to operate Mining Guild TIE fighters, ensuring the enforcement of the guild's directives.
Prior to the Galactic Civil War, specifically in the years leading up to it, Mining Guild protectors were stationed at a refinery owned by the guild on Clouzon-36, situated within an asteroid belt. During this time, a rebel group known as the Spectres attacked the refinery with the intention of stealing fuel. The rebels, aided by the indigenous purrgil that were consuming the Clouzon-36 gases and thereby disrupting the refinery's operations, successfully overcame the base's defenses, resulting in the refinery's destruction. Later, these same rebels were encountered by Mining Guild TIE fighters at the Sereeda Waypoint, where the fighters were quickly eliminated by the rebels.
Before the Galactic Civil War, the Mining Guild employed a security force known as the guard. These guards were responsible for safeguarding the guild's interests, including its controlled space and refinery installations. Armed with E-11 medium blaster rifles, the guards wore distinctive bright-blue uniforms adorned with yellow stripes on their sleeves, pant legs, and torsos. The Mining Guild's emblem was prominently displayed on the chest area of their uniforms. In addition, the guards wore yellow and blue helmets equipped with opaque green visors.
At the guild's refineries, the guards functioned as ground troops, using force to implement the Mining Guild's objectives. To protect the territory under the guild's control, the guards operated modified TIE/ln space superiority starfighters, commonly referred to as Mining Guild TIE fighters. These fighters could be identified by their uniquely altered solar panels and their yellow color schemes.
The Sereeda Waypoint near the planet Yarma, along with a Clouzon-36 gas refinery situated on a planetoid within an asteroid belt, were among the locations patrolled by the guards. The guards assigned to the refinery were exclusively members of the Rodian species, and they were under the command of the refinery boss, Yushyn.

During 3 BBY, the Mining Guild's asteroid refinery faced a problem in the form of purrgil, a space-faring species. These purrgil consumed the natural Clouzon-36 gas, which enabled them to navigate through hyperspace, thereby disrupting the guild's mining operations. In response, Boss Yushyn instructed the Mining Guild guards under his command to eliminate all of the purrgil. Two Rodian guards positioned a blaster cannon on a tripod and began attempting to shoot down the purrgil as they consumed the gas.
While the guards were dealing with the purrgil, Mining Guild TIE fighters patrolling the asteroid belt encountered the starship Ghost, which belonged to the Spectres, a rebel group. A dogfight ensued, resulting in the deaths of two guild pilots. The Ghost was running low on power and fuel, so the crew allowed the remaining TIE fighter to escape in order to conserve energy. In search of resources, the Ghost followed the Mining Guild TIE back to the refinery. Upon arrival, the rebels attempted to steal Clouzon-36 gas. During the heist, Yushyn and several Mining Guild guards cornered rebel Ezra Bridger. Yushyn demanded that the rebels surrender, but with the help of the purrgil, the Ghost crew turned the situation around. The Ghost obtained the necessary supplies, the remaining TIE fighters were destroyed, and Yushyn was dragged away by a purrgil. Despite the guards' efforts, the refinery was ultimately destroyed by the rebels.
Later, in 2 BBY, Mining Guild starfighters once again encountered the crew of the Ghost at the Sereeda Waypoint. The rebels were en route to the planet Yarma on a mission to scout the Galactic Empire's salvage yard at Reklam Station. To reach Yarma, the rebels had to pass through Mining Guild territory. After exiting hyperspace in a vessel called the Phantom, the rebels were immediately intercepted by an Aurore class freighter escorted by two Mining Guild TIE fighters. The captain of the larger ship attempted to communicate with the rebels, but when they were ignored, the guild fighters engaged. The skirmish ended quickly when the Phantom destroyed the fighter escorts.
Bridger, who was aboard the Phantom, believed that the unarmed Mining Guild ship should be destroyed along with its fighters. However, his crewmates disagreed, and the rebels continued to Yarma, leaving the remaining Mining Guild vessel unharmed.
The first appearance of Mining Guild guards was in "The Call," an episode of the Star Wars Rebels television series. Their official identification as such came later, with their inclusion in the digital card trading app Star Wars: Card Trader.
