Mira Bridger

During the Galactic Empire's height, a human female from the Outer Rim planet of Lothal, named Mira Bridger, became a prominent dissident. She vocally opposed the Galactic Empire's governance. Mira, along with her husband,** Ephraim, disseminated clandestine revolutionary messages against the Empire, actions supported by Ryder Azadi, Lothal's governor**. Consequently, the Empire arrested and imprisoned the Bridgers and Azadi. This left their son, Ezra, to survive alone on Lothal for almost a decade.

While incarcerated, Mira and Ephraim discovered Ezra's involvement in a rebel cell fighting the Empire on Lothal. They intercepted his message of rebellion, broadcast across Lothal and adjacent star systems, inspiring them to seek liberation from Imperial control. Mira and her husband spearheaded a prison revolt, enabling numerous prisoners to escape. However, Mira and Ephraim died during the breakout.

Biography

The Bridger family, before Mira and Ephraim's arrests

Ephraim Bridger and Mira Bridger were married, and they had a son named Ezra. Ezra was born on Empire Day, the very day the Galactic Empire rose to power. When the Empire seized control of Lothal, their homeworld situated in the Outer Rim Territories, Mira and Ephraim became outspoken opponents of the new regime, acting as early rebels. In 14 BBY, they began transmitting clandestine messages denouncing the Empire, revolutionary actions supported by Ryder Azadi, the governor of Lothal. These activities prompted the Empire to dispatch stormtroopers to apprehend them. Consequently, the Bridgers and the governor were arrested for treason. Tseebo, a Rodian friend of the Bridgers, pledged to care for Ezra, but he became fearful of the Empire and failed to do so. This left Ezra, only seven years old, to fend for himself for the better part of a decade.

Years later, while still imprisoned, Mira and Ephraim discovered that Ezra had joined a rebel cell fighting the Imperial Military on Lothal. He broadcast a message of rebellion to the citizens of Lothal, urging them to resist and fight for their freedom. This message resonated across the galaxy, inspiring many, and eventually reached the prison where the Bridgers were held. Mira and Ephraim, who had long tried to assist their fellow prisoners, recognized their son's voice because his words echoed their own from years prior. Inspired by Ezra's message, Mira and Ephraim orchestrated a prison break that resulted in the escape of numerous prisoners, including Azadi, to freedom. However, the Bridgers were separated during the escape and refused to leave until everyone else was safe. By the time their fellow prisoners were free, Mira and Ephraim had already been killed.

Legacy

For a long time, while his parents were in captivity, Ezra avoided knowing their fate, believing that hope for their return would hinder his survival. He eventually began to uncover the truth after encountering Tseebo, who had joined the Imperial Information Office and stole vital information to atone for his failure to help Ezra. Initially, Ezra did not learn what Tseebo knew about the Bridgers' captivity, but he later learned about it from his Jedi teacher, Kanan Jarrus, and rebel captain Hera Syndulla. This revelation coincided with a vision of his parents at the moment of their death. The vision led him back to Lothal, which he and the rebels had previously abandoned.

Ezra sees his parents through the Force

On Lothal, Ezra found Azadi, who had also returned to tell Ezra about Mira and Ephraim. Azadi recounted the events of the prison revolt, and Ezra was grateful for the truth but heartbroken by the loss of his parents. Shortly after learning of their fate, he experienced another vision where he saw Mira and Ephraim through the Force, who told him they were proud of him and encouraged him to stay strong. Ezra initially struggled to understand how he could see his parents, but Jarrus explained that the Jedi taught that life transforms into something new in the Force rather than ending at death. Mira and Ephraim would always be with him, even if he could not see them.

During the Liberation of Lothal in 0 BBY, Ezra was invited aboard the Chimaera to discuss an offer from Emperor Sheev Palpatine. Palpatine attempted to lure the young Padawan into a trap within the remains of the Lothal Jedi Temple, where Bridger heard Mira's voice, inviting him to eat his favorite foods. However, Ezra discerned the deception, sensed his parents' death, rejected Palpatine's offer, and summoned the purrgil to remove Grand Admiral Thrawn's Imperial forces from Lothal.

Personality and traits

Mira Bridger, a human female characterized by purple eyes and tan skin, wore a headpiece covering her head. She was an outspoken critic of the Empire's control over Lothal, which led to her and her husband's arrest and imprisonment. Even while incarcerated, the Bridgers continued to champion others, ultimately sacrificing themselves in the prison revolt they led to secure freedom for others.
