Taz Molkar

Taz Molkar existed as a moon orbiting the planet known as Trymant IV. This world was located within the Outer Rim and Western Reaches sectors of the galaxy. However, in 232 BBY, during the Great Hyperspace Disaster, the moon met its end. It was destroyed by an Emergence, which consisted of hyperspace wreckage originating from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter that materialized in realspace. By 3 ABY, records detailing the obliteration of Trymant IV's moons, inclusive of Taz Molkar, could be found within specific databases.

Description

Taz Molkar functioned as a moon for the planet Trymant IV, situated in the Outer Rim. This planet itself orbited a binary star within the Trymant system. Being a moon within the Trymant system, Taz Molkar's location placed it within the Western Reaches region, specifically in square L-20 of the Standard Galactic Grid. In relation to Trymant IV, another of its moons, Praknat 3, held the orbit closest to the planet, while Taz Molkar was among the other moons.

History

Mari San Tekka (pictured) warned the Nihil of an impending Emergence, indicating that Taz Molkar was in danger.

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a portion of the Outer Rim—encompassing Trymant IV and consequently its moons—as the Galactic Frontier. These areas were deemed sufficiently distant from the core of the galaxy to warrant the deployment of explorers. In 232 BBY, the Great Hyperspace Disaster triggered Emergences, events where hyperspace remnants from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter began appearing in realspace, impacting celestial objects across the galaxy. The hyperspace-sensitive Mari San Tekka, held captive by Nihil marauders, foresaw that one such Emergence was poised to strike several locations within the Trymant system, including Taz Molkar, in the near future. Doctor Kisma Uttersond conveyed this warning to Marchion Ro, the leader of the Nihil, prompting his departure for the Trymant system before the Emergences occurred.

Ultimately, an Emergence collided with and obliterated Taz Molkar. In the aftermath, the Jedi Order archived information detailing the system's catastrophe. By the time the Galactic Empire was in power during its reign, records of the Trymant system incident remained accessible within certain databases. At one point by 3 ABY, Parazeen Parapa, an intern journalist, reviewed the event's files and discovered the destruction of Trymant IV's moons while interviewing Zuckuss and 4-LOM, two bounty hunters. Parapa integrated his findings into an article intended for the Galactic Digest magazine, which was subsequently reviewed and annotated by TK-7, the Chief Editor Droid from the publication's Culture Desk.

Behind the scenes

The name Taz Molkar initially appeared in "Tales of Villainy: The Gaze Electric," a supporting comic story featured in the sixth issue of the 2020 Star Wars Adventures anthology comic series. Daniel José Older authored the story, while IDW Publishing released the comic issue on July 7, 2021. Older confirmed via Twitter that Taz Molkar was among the Trymant IV moons indirectly referenced in "STET!," one of his short stories. This story was published in 2020 within the From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back anthology, retroactively establishing "STET!" as the initial, indirect mention of Taz Molkar.
