Trandoshan ale

Trandoshan ale, an ale of amber hue, was available at the Outlander Club situated on the planet of Coruscant. It was also served at Ronto Roasters found in Black Spire Outpost located on the planet Batuu. In 11 BBY, Jedi fugitive Kanan Jarrus, attempting to conceal Skelly from the pursuing Galactic Empire, confined him to a back room of the Asteroid Belt cantina, asserting that he was a Wookiee incapacitated by an excess of Trandoshan ale.

Description

The amber-colored ale known as Trandoshan ale is named after the Trandoshan species.

History

Back in 22 BBY, one could find Trandoshan ale served within the Outlander Club on Coruscant (planet). The ale was dispensed from a towering tube positioned on the counter, behind the club's main bar.

During a conflict on the planet Gorse in 11 BBY, the Jedi [Kanan Jarrus](/article/kanan_jarrus], then in hiding, needed to keep Imperial stormtroopers from discovering demolitions expert Skelly. To do so, he secreted him away in a storage space within The Asteroid Belt cantina and feigned that Skelly was a Wookiee who had overindulged in Trandoshan ale. Jarrus proclaimed the ale's potency, suggesting it could strip the finish from a landspeeder, and Skelly's simulated retching noises deterred the troopers from investigating the restroom.

Furthermore, Trandoshan ale was available for purchase from Bakkar, the owner of Ronto Roasters, an eatery situated in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. Sometime after the Battle of Takodana in 34 ABY, Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs mentioned in his cookbook The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook that patrons of Ronto Roasters might want a Trandoshan ale or a drink from one of Jat Kaa's astromech droid drawn-coolers after eating there, but suggested that the drinks at Oga's Cantina were superior.

Behind the scenes

Trandoshan ale was initially referenced in A New Dawn, a novel penned by John Jackson Miller and published in 2014. The accuracy of Jarrus' assertions about the ale in the novel remains uncertain. The reference book Star Wars: How Not to Get Eaten by Ewoks and Other Galactic Survival Skills, released in 2019, retconned one of the beverages displayed in the 2002 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, identifying it as Trandoshan ale.
