Vidara Jurness

Vidara Jurness was a mercenary of humanoid descent. She was employed by the Black Mask syndicate alongside fellow mercenaries Vect Nokru, a human, and Ayo Bons. Their base of operations was situated in Daiyu City on the planet Daiyu. In the year 9 BBY, the Third Sister, an Imperial Inquisitor, contracted the gang to kidnap Leia Organa, the princess of Alderaan. After successfully capturing Organa within the forests of Alderaan, they imprisoned her aboard their ship before transporting her to Daiyu. As the Third Sister had foreseen, Obi-Wan Kenobi, formerly a Jedi Master, arrived to liberate Leia. Initially, the mercenaries, Jurness included, managed to apprehend Kenobi, but he managed to break free by incapacitating them with spice he'd previously acquired.

Biography

Jurness chases Leia

During the [Imperial Era](/article/imperial_era], Vidara Jurness collaborated with the human mercenary Vect Nokru and the mercenary Ayo Bons as members of the Black Mask organization, which conducted its activities from Daiyu City on the planet Daiyu. In 9 ABY, the Imperial Inquisitor known as the Third Sister engaged the gang to kidnap Leia Organa, the princess of the [Core Worlds](/article/core_worlds] planet Alderaan. The Inquisitor's true objective was to ensnare Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi in hiding, anticipating that Bail Organa, the Alderaanian senator, would request the former Jedi Master to rescue his daughter. Upon arriving on Alderaan, the group lay in wait for Leia within the forest and successfully captured her after shooting an Alderaan guard in a short chase. Jurness then covered Leia's head with a bag. After holding her hostage aboard their ship, Nokru contacted the Third Sister after brushing off counsel from the mercenary. Subsequently, the mercenaries transported Leia to The Den, a questionable establishment in Daiyu City, and confined her to a cell.

Jurness and her colleagues, pinning Kenobi to a wall

Following their arrival on Daiyu, the group awaited Kenobi's arrival, who – as the Third Sister anticipated – had been asked by Bail to rescue his daughter. Once Kenobi had entered their hideout, the three ambushed him and managed to pin the Jedi against the wall while threatening him with their blasters. Jurness then took Kenobi's lightsaber and handed it to Nokru, who was having a talk with Kenobi about how he had become vulnerable. However, Kenobi fled by incapacitating the mercenaries with spice he had obtained earlier. The mercenaries were left locked in their own cell as they writhed in pain—enveloped by spice dust—until Third Sister arrived to demand where Kenobi was. Sometime after Kenobi and Leia's escape, Jurness escaped from the cell and cleaned her blaster. The Third Sister approached Nokru to put a bounty on the Jedi and inform all bounty hunters on the planet about Kenobi's presence, although the princess and Jedi were ultimately able to escape Daiyu.
