Vect Nokru

Vect Nokru existed as a human mercenary originating from the planet Alderaan, and he was active during the Imperial Era. In the year 9 BBY, the Third Sister of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, a group dedicated to hunting Jedi, employed him and his Black Mask gang. Their assignment involved the kidnapping of Princess Leia Organa, who was ten years old and from the planet Alderaan. The intention was to utilize her as bait to lure out the fugitive Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The group successfully captured Leia on Alderaan and subsequently transported her to a spice den situated on the planet Daiyu.

Nokru and his accomplices imprisoned Leia and strategically placed a trap utilizing a decoy to ensnare Kenobi. The Jedi was fooled by the bait and found himself held at gunpoint by the mercenaries, with Nokru mocking his newly captured prey. However, Kenobi cleverly employed a vial of spice to incapacitate the group, facilitating his escape and the subsequent rescue of Leia. The Third Sister contacted Nokru only to discover that her target had vanished, leading her to utilize the mercenary to issue a bounty for the Jedi across the city on Daiyu. The Grand Inquisitor, having arrived to address the Third Sister's unauthorized actions, then apprehended Nokru. During the interrogation, the Inquisitor demanded to know Kenobi's whereabouts before killing the mercenary with his lightsaber.

Biography

The kidnapping

Vect Nokru returned to his homeworld of Alderaan for a job that entailed kidnapping its hier.

Though hailing from the serene planet of Alderaan, Vect Nokru, a human, chose the path of a mercenary criminal. During the era of the Galactic Empire, he collaborated with fellow mercenaries Vidara Jurness and Ayo Bons as part of the Black Mask gang, operating from Daiyu City on the planet Daiyu. In 9 BBY, the Third Sister, a member of the Imperial Jedi-hunting Inquisitorius, enlisted the trio. Their mission: to kidnap Leia Organa, the ten year-old daughter of Queen Breha Organa and Senator Bail Organa from Nokru's own homeworld, Alderaan. The objective behind the kidnapping was to lure out the fugitive Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi from his hiding place, as the Third Sister knew of Kenobi's past alliance with Bail prior to the fall of the Jedi Order a decade earlier. The mercenary trio journeyed to the grounds of the Royal Palace of Alderaan, where Nokru observed the young Leia being escorted into the palace by her mother and two Alderaan Guards after she had wandered off to watch starships taking off.

Nokru and his companions lay in wait near the tree in the woods that Leia frequented, until the ten-year-old returned after once again leaving the palace. The mercenaries approached her, and Leia questioned their presence. As Nokru's two accomplices stealthily moved behind her, he revealed their intention to capture her. Finding herself surrounded, Leia attempted to flee. Nokru signaled his companions to give chase, and they pursued Leia through the woods. However, they were unable to catch her, as she encountered an Alderaan guard searching for her. Nokru intervened, shooting the guard with his blaster pistol, and his accomplices then surrounded and captured Leia.

The mercenaries escorted Leia onto their ship and set course for the planet Daiyu, concealing their vessel's signature behind that of a freighter. Nokru instructed the alien mercenary to secure her to a chair within a cell and lock her away. As the starship neared Daiyu, Nokru went to check on his captive, discovering her attempting to escape using her toy droid Lola. Leia declared that she was not afraid of the mercenary, to which he responded, "give it time," before smashing Lola on the ground. The girl warned that Bail Organa would dispatch an army to rescue her, but Nokru dismissed this, asserting that no one was coming, and left her alone in the cell once more. He also contacted the Third Sister, questioning whether Kenobi would come for Leia. The Inquisitor reassured him that the plan would succeed, adding that the Jedi would be unable to resist.

Capturing Kenobi

Meanwhile, Bail had managed to locate the signature of Nokru's ship, tracking it to Daiyu, and persuaded Kenobi to abandon his hiding place on the planet Tatooine to assist in Leia's rescue. Nokru transported Leia to The Den, a spice den situated in Daiyu's city, and confined her to a cell, placing a derelict droid under a cloak as a decoy in another cell as a trap. Upon arriving on Daiyu, Kenobi successfully located the decoy cell and discovered the fake Leia. With the Jedi ensnared in their trap, Nokru's two companions held Kenobi at gunpoint before Nokru himself entered the room. The mercenary expressed his surprise that the Jedi had fallen for the ruse and remarked that he had expected his new captive to be more intelligent, delivering a punch to Kenobi's gut.

The green-skinned mercenary handed Nokru Kenobi's lightsaber, and he gloated that the Third Sister had outsmarted the Jedi and would arrive soon, bringing riches to the mercenaries. Kenobi simply inquired about Leia's whereabouts, to which Nokru responded that it was irrelevant. The mercenary asserted that his captive was no longer a Jedi and pointed out that Kenobi was bleeding on the floor. With a clever retort, Kenobi revealed a vial of red spice and shattered it on the floor, donning his breath mask as a spice cloud filled the room. Nokru shielded his face as the Jedi reclaimed his lightsaber and kicked the mercenary, exiting the room and securing the door behind him.

The Inquisitors arrive

Vect Nokru was killed by the Grand Inquisitor.

Nokru and his accomplices were incapacitated by the spice cloud, lying on the floor in a drugged state. The mercenary leaned against the door until the Third Sister arrived, demanding to know Kenobi's location. The Inquisitor departed and encountered three other Inquisitors—the Grand Inquisitor, Fourth Sister, and [Fifth Brother](/article/fifth_brother]—who had become aware of her unauthorized mission to capture Kenobi. After the Grand Inquisitor instructed her to stand down, the Third Sister defied her superior's orders and contacted Nokru, who had recovered from the spice. The Third Sister commanded him to issue a bounty on Kenobi under the Inquisitor's name to every bounty hunter in the city. The mercenary expressed skepticism about the hunters' ability to capture a Jedi, but the Third Sister clarified that she only wanted the "low-lifes" to pressure her target until he revealed himself.

Nokru complied and issued the bounty, attracting the attention of all the bounty hunters, who commenced their search for Kenobi. However, the Grand Inquisitor also learned of the bounty and apprehended the mercenary, interrogating him on the street. Using the Force to pull Nokru towards his double-bladed spinning lightsaber, the Grand Inquisitor demanded to know Kenobi's whereabouts. The mercenary insisted that he did not know, only to be struck by the spinning lightsaber and killed.

Personality and traits

The criminal Vect Nokru

Vect Nokru was a human characterized by fair skin, blue eyes, and gray, thinning hair. Despite his origins on the notably peaceful Alderaan, Nokru embraced a life of crime, becoming a mercenary willing to kidnap even children for a job. Even Leia Organa's status as the princess of Nokru's homeworld did not deter the Alderaanian criminal. In fact, he dismissed the young princess as a spoiled brat. He frequently taunted his captives, asserting that they would be unable to escape and were doomed.

Nokru harbored doubts about Kenobi's intelligence, questioning whether he would fall for the bait in the form of Leia Organa, but he was surprised to see that the plan had succeeded. He also remained skeptical that any bounty hunter would be capable of capturing a Jedi. The mercenary exhibited panic during his interrogation by the Grand Inquisitor at the Inquisitor's lightsaber blade, articulating his answers more deliberately as death loomed.

Equipment

Nokru wore a yellow shirt and green trousers. He also donned a black jacket and brown boots and utilized a blaster pistol. The mercenary had a pair of cybernetic implants in the back of his head.
