A Hutt trader from the Hutt Clans was involved in commerce concerning vratixia renanicus barley close to the Periphery of the galaxy. Back in 232 BBY, this Hutt acquired a vratixia renanicus consignment from Sedri Minor, a remote agriworld situated in the Periphery, and subsequently journeyed with the cargo aboard a transport through the Kazlin system. Despite the system's recent entry into the Galactic Republic, which had placed sanctions on the Hutt Clan, preventing them from freely trading within Republic space, the Hutt trader's starship fell victim to a raid conducted by Nihil pirates.
The Nihil killed all those aboard the freighter, including the Hutt, who had suffered multiple stab wounds, blaster burns, and nagnol poisoning. Jedi Master Sskeer of the Jedi Order, along with Jedi Knights Terec, Ceret, and Keeve Trennis, later investigated the vessel. Trennis and Ceret were the first to discover the Hutt's dead body, finding the trader's remains positioned on a metal podium, encircled by the corpses of numerous guards who had died in battle. Following this, the Jedi trailed the barley shipment to the Sedri system, while Master Avar Kriss instructed Galactic Republic personnel to transport the Hutt's remains to Starlight Beacon.
Upon arrival at the Beacon, Estala Maru took charge of an autopsy performed on the decaying Hutt, with the assistance of Jedi Vernestra Rwoh, Imri Cantaros, and the astromech droid KC-78. Maru subsequently informed the Jedi Council on Coruscant about Avar Kriss's request for the autopsy, a revelation that deeply troubled Grand Master Xo Lahru.
The initial appearance of the Hutt trader, albeit as a deceased character, occurred in The High Republic (2021) 2, a comic authored by Cavan Scott, with illustrations by Ario Anindito, Mark Morales, and Annalisa Leoni, and released in 2021.
