Unidentified Jedi (Accresker Jail)

A member of the Jedi Order, known as a Jedi, existed many centuries prior to the era when the Galactic Empire ruled. This particular Jedi contracted an infection from gundravian hookspores, which ultimately led to their demise. The Jedi's dead body, along with their Penumbra-1 shattersprite, ended up within the prison-wreckage known as Accresker Jail. The hookspores, having undergone a mutation due to the Jedi's inherent personality and connection to the Force, remained with the cadaver, utilizing its abilities in the Force to launch attacks on the inmates. Eventually, the organism departed from the corpse after identifying a more suitable individual to inhabit, and Accresker Jail was destroyed upon its impact with the surface of the world called Tiferep Major.

Biography

A host with a sad end

The Jedi was possessed by gundravian hookspores

Long before the time period of the Galactic Empire, a Jedi Knight belonging to the Jedi Order was infected by gundravian hookspores, a highly contagious type of mold. For several years, the Jedi and these hookspores existed together, with the mold becoming deeply influenced by the Jedi's brave character and connection to the Force. The Jedi then perished while aboard their Penumbra-1 shattersprite, and the remnants of the vessel ultimately found their way into Accresker Jail, a prison made of wreckage employed by the Galactic Empire around the time of the Galactic Civil War. Confined to the jail, the hookspores employed their newly acquired powers to manifest as a Force ghost, terrifying and assaulting captives, thus creating the impression that Accresker Jail was haunted by a ghost.

The corpse of this Jedi was discovered around 1 ABY by Chelli Aphra, a rogue archaeologist and an inmate of Accresker Jail, who was guided to the Jedi's ship's remains by the Force ghost. She found the hookspore infestation and the Jedi's lightsaber, but she was forced to return to the prison before she could address either issue. The prison was destroyed soon after when the staff discovered the presence of the gundravian hookspores, and the wreckage-prison was sent on a collision course with Tiferep Major, a planet aligned with the Rebellion, by the Empire.

The fungus finds a new path

Chelli Aphra plunders the Jedi's corpse.

While attempting to flee the prison with her allies, Aphra reduced the gravitational pull within the wreckage-prison to reposition debris and create a clearer path to an escape craft. In doing so, she also ensured that the Penumbra-1 shattersprite was accessible, hoping to obtain the deceased Jedi's lightsaber. When Aphra's group encountered the gundravian hookspores, the fungus briefly took control of them, revealing its history with the Jedi. The hookspores rejected the group because they lacked the ideal personality that the fungus had become accustomed to. However, it later abandoned the Jedi's corpse in an attempt to infect the law enforcer Tam Posla, who possessed his own sense of justice.

By freezing the gundravian hookspores with a cooling system before they could fuse with Posla, Aphra went back to the Jedi's corpse and took his lightsaber with the intention of selling it. In a later confrontation with Posla, the rogue archaeologist attempted to use the lightsaber, but it broke due to its age. An assassin droid then killed Posla, and Accresker Jail eventually crashed onto Tiferep Major. The gundravian hookspores survived the crash and merged with Posla's remains, transferring the Force-sensitivity acquired from the late Jedi to the vigilante. The infected undead Posla was ultimately destroyed on the planet Milvayne.
