Unidentified Nightbrother village

A Nightbrother village served as the home for the Nightbrothers on the planet of Dathomir; specifically, it housed Viscus' clan of the Dathomirian Zabrak warrior group. Constructed into the side of the Upper Strangled Cliffs, the village also sheltered the Nightbrothers' tamed bane back spiders. Around the time that Order 66 was carried out, Jedi Master Taron Malicos experienced a crash landing on the planet, and the Nightbrothers brought him to their village, leading to his involvement in the clan's affairs.

Years later, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, in his efforts to reach the Zeffo Tomb of Kujet, was unexpectedly knocked into the depths of Dathomir. During his efforts to return to the surface, he traversed the village and became aware of the narrative surrounding Malicos and the Nightbrothers.

Description

This village, situated on the Outer Rim Territories planet Dathomir, was built into the Upper Strangled Cliffs and enclosed by substantial wooden walls and towers. The Dathomirian Zabrak warriors known as the Nightbrothers resided in the village, particularly the clan led by Brother Viscus. A metal drawbridge, which could be raised to restrict entry to the village, spanned a wide chasm, leading to a small stone doorway. A dungeon utilized by the Nightbrothers existed beneath the village, and a path nearby led to the Swamp of Sacrifice. Within the village, wooden cages were suspended from above, torches illuminated the area, and dwellings adorned with Dathomirian Glyphs were carved into the rocky cliffsides.

History

Creation and rise of Malicos

The destruction of the Nightbrothers' prior village

The Confederacy of Independent Systems destroyed the Nightbrothers' prior village in 19 BBY during the Second Battle of Dathomir, as part of a campaign against the Shadow Collective. The Nightbrothers who survived retreated and constructed a new village, finishing it within that same year.

Later that year, the Nightbrothers inhabiting the village witnessed the starship of Jedi Master Taron Malicos crash-land in the Swamp of Sacrifice following the execution of Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic, a directive intended to eliminate all Jedi. As the Nightbrothers investigated the wreckage, Nightsister Merrin advised caution, sensing a threat. They discovered the former Jedi within the ship, captured him, and brought him to the village. The intense presence of the dark side of the Force began to corrupt Malicos, causing him to reject the Jedi teachings and embrace the dark side. Eventually, the Nightbrothers in the village grew impatient waiting for Merrin's instructions and, without her consent, pursued Malicos through a Collapsed Settlement, eventually subduing him, though he killed one of their own in the process. Grieving this loss, some Nightbrothers plotted to kill the fallen Jedi as revenge for the lives lost. After the Nightbrothers presented Malicos to Brother Viscus, Malicos battled and killed Viscus, assuming control of the Nightbrothers and forming an alliance with Merrin, promising retribution for the massacre of her sisters in 20 BBY.

Visit by Cal Kestis

Padawan Cal Kestis visited the village during the reign of the Galactic Empire.

By 14 BBY, the Nightbrothers had learned to tame bane back spiders, which then lived alongside them in the village. That year, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan, journeyed to Dathomir in order to recover an astrium from the Tomb of Kujet, the burial place of the Zeffo Sage Kujet. A Nightbrother caused Kestis to fall from the Treacherous Approach by dislodging a large rock, sending the Padawan tumbling into the depths of Dathomir. He then navigated the wilderness in an attempt to return to the surface and reach the tomb.

Upon reaching the village, Kestis was attacked by Nightbrothers using Nightsister energy bows, forcing him to retreat into the Swamp of Sacrifice. After finally returning to the entrance, he used the underside of the lowered drawbridge to climb into the dungeon. From there, he ascended into the main part of the village, engaging the Nightbrothers in combat and ultimately defeating them. Using telekinesis, he pulled a cage down from a raised platform, using it to propel himself up and through a passageway to continue his journey.

While within the village, Kestis utilized the Force ability of Psychometry to uncover the story of Malicos and the Nightbrothers. He also found the paint needed for the “Aphelion” paint job for luxury yachts inside a chest.
