Minas Velti was a human female Jedi Master who wielded a green-bladed lightsaber. In 19 BBY, toward the end of the Clone Wars, she was training a group of younglings at the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant when clone troopers of the 501st Legion stormed the temple as part of Operation: Knightfall. Velti attempted to defend the younglings but ultimately perished during the siege.
Minas Velti served the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic as a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. In 19 BBY, Velti led a group of Jedi Initiates—including Faris and Reva Sevander—through a training routine on a balcony within the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, her homeworld. Carrying out Order 66—the command for clone troopers to eliminate the Jedi—two troopers of the 501st Legion interrupted the training by opening fire on Velti and her students. Velti deflected the blaster bolts and eliminated the troopers.
The Jedi Master ushered the younglings through the temple and continued to defend them from the ongoing siege. Despite cutting down multiple clones, Velti was soon overwhelmed as she brought the children to the main hall. Velti fell to a blaster bolt to her stomach as she killed the last clone immediately threatening the children. Afterward, the younglings grieved over her body before deciding they had to continue running; however, they then encountered the fallen Jedi Darth Vader and fell to his lightsaber, with only Sevander surviving.
Velti was Force-sensitive and could wield a lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts.
Velti wielded a green-bladed lightsaber and wore brown Jedi robes.
Minas Velti first appeared in "Part I," the first episode of the television series Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premiered on May 26, 2022. While unnamed in the episode, the credits identified her as "Jedi Master Minas Velti," and she was portrayed by Ming Qiu. Director Deborah Chow chose Qiu to play the character, for which Qiu expressed gratitude. On Instagram, Qiu thanked Chow, stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, the actors who played the Jedi younglings, and the cast and crew.
The 2023 Topps Star Wars collectible card set, which released on August 4, 2023, featured cards of individuals, including Velti, with their "homeworld" listed. Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo has described the set's use of the term as a "poor choice" of description for planets that the characters were merely associated with. This article, however, assumes that the information on Velti's card is still applicable.
