Barath

Barath was a TIE fighter pilot of the human species, serving in the Galactic Empire's military as a member of the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. He participated in the genocide that destroyed the planet of Nacronis, flying as part of a squadron under the leadership of Captain Nosteen. While providing cover for TIE/sa bombers from New Republic X-wing starfighters, the pilot met his death after being struck by a missile. Following this event, Yrica Quell, Nosteen's second-in-command, abandoned the Empire, fabricating a story for the New Republic in which Barath perished while attempting to join her.

Biography

Barath, a human and a TIE fighter pilot, served in the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, piloting a TIE/ln space superiority starfighter as part of a squadron commanded by Captain Nosteen. Following the Battle of Endor and the death of Emperor Palpatine by two weeks in 4 ABY, the 204th was assigned the mission of wiping out all life on the planet Nacronis, fulfilling Operation: Cinder, a contingency plan devised by the Emperor. Barath, along with his fellow pilots in the squadron, was tasked with guarding TIE/sa bombers that carried vortex detonators. However, as X-wing starfighters from the enemy engaged the TIE squadron, a surface-to-air missile struck and killed Barath.

The vortex detonators successfully wrought havoc on Nacronis by intensifying siltstorms. In the aftermath of the genocide, Lieutenant Yrica Quell, who served as Nosteen's second-in-command, deserted to the New Republic. She then told an interrogation droids a fabricated account of her defection, claiming that she, Barath, and the pilot Tonas had defected together, but Barath and Tonas were killed. In 11 ABY, Quell reflected on Barath while piloting a Helotek Loadhauler shuttle.
