Charlotte Louise


Charlotte Louise Baker, professionally known as Charlotte Louise, is a British actor and puppeteer who entered the world on October 27, 1991, in Surrey, England. Her career includes involvement in several Star Wars productions, such as some smaller parts in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the 2016 film belonging to the Anthology Series, and the sequel trilogy films Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, which were released in 2017 and 2019, respectively. In the 2018 Anthology Series movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, Louise played the part of the concierge Margo, in addition to portraying a number of background characters. She also played a dancing hologram in "Kassa," a 2022 episode of the television show Andor.

Charlotte Louise Baker's birth occurred in Surrey, England on October 27, 1991. While uncredited, the British actor worked as a puppeteer for the 2016 Anthology Series film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In the following year, Louise was credited as a creature and droid puppeteer for the sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. She auditioned for the film without knowing its identity, a result of the high security measures in place. Neal Scanlan, the creature effects supervisor, was present at the audition, and Louise became excited upon realizing it was a Star Wars film. After undergoing a costume fitting and having a plaster cast made for her costume, Louise was selected to play an orange-skinned alien who appeared in Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica. Louise, a longtime Star Wars enthusiast, was overjoyed to receive the part. In 2018, Louise played the role of concierge Margo in the Anthology Series film Solo: A Star Wars Story. She was cast in the role after The Last Jedi was completed. While initially hesitant about portraying Margo due to the plaster costume, the actor found it easy to adapt once the process began. Louise enjoyed her time working with the CFX team on the film's set, considering them a second family.

Louise received dialect training from coach Andrew Jack for the role, as Margo had an alien dialect. Louise also participated in movement rehearsals for the film to perfect Margo's graceful movements. The prosthetic costume for the role took approximately five and a half hours to apply. Louise also portrayed four other minor characters in the film, including two Twi'leks. For the Twi'lek she portrayed on a jungle world, she took part in cast sabacc lessons. In 2019, she was cast as Lazu Lirona, a smuggler, and Charlu Sisi, a member of a dance troupe, in the sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Louise's own name served as inspiration for the name Charlu Sisi.

Louise played a dancing hologram woman in "Kassa," although she was credited as a puppeteer. This episode marked the beginning of the first season of the television series Andor, which premiered on September 21, 2022. She received credit as a puppeteer in a number of other Andor episodes, including "Reckoning," "Aldhani," "The Eye," "Announcement," "Narkina 5," "Nobody's Listening!," "One Way Out," and "Rix Road." These episodes were released on September 21, September 28, October 12, October 19, October 26, November 2, November 9, and November 23 of 2023, respectively. Louise was present at Celebration Europe, which occurred from April 7th10th in 2023. She joined other puppeteers from Star Wars projects on a panel to demonstrate the process of being a creature performer on set to the audience. Louise voiced her appreciation for the team she has collaborated with on the franchise, expressing that she loves them like family.
