Storyline Summary

Vader's vengeance

Darth Vader stands at the Inquisitorius Headquarters located on Coruscant, raising his lightsaber above the head of Thirteenth Sister. The Grand Inquisitor questions if this is a test or further instruction. Vader denies this before moving to strike the red Inquisitor down. However, Tualon Yaluna stops Lord Vader's lightsaber. He instructs the Thirteenth Sister to escape.

As she runs away, Lord Vader confronts the Twi'lek Inquisitor, stating that he detected an attachment between them, which he views as a liability. He claims that the death of Eeth Koth should have taught them a lesson about such things, but they failed to learn from it. He throws Yaluna violently against the wall. The Twi'lek Inquisitor demands to know what she did; Lord Vader responds that it is irrelevant, but he has committed the same offense.

As Yaluna runs away, the Grand Inquisitor asks if he or the Inquisitors can be of assistance. Lord Vader refuses his offer. While escaping, the two Inquisitors who are now fugitives consider why Vader attacked them. Thirteenth Sister says that Vader does not require a justification to kill. She is surprised that Yaluna intervened, leading Yaluna to reveal his feelings for her. Akaris shares her feelings but cautions that they must now kill Vader. They decide to escape after killing the Sith Lord.

Later, Darth Vader is patrolling the skies of Coruscant with two Coruscant Guards inside an airspeeder. He informs them that they are searching for a male and female Jedi who are both clever and will attack without warning. Just as Vader finishes speaking, a double-bladed spinning lightsaber cuts through the right rear engine, causing the speeder to lose control. Vader jumps onto a red airspeeder. The fleeing Inquisitors throw their spinning lightsabers, which cut through the speeder's frame.

The out-of-control speeder crashes into a Gran and a human couple in a park, killing them instantly. Vader continues to chase them using a third speeder. The Inquisitors, who have taken control of a green airspeeder, hurl a white and orange two-seater speeder at Lord Vader, but the Sith Lord throws it back at them. They use the Force to drop a statue on top of Lord Vader, causing him to crash onto a balcony.

Thinking they have won, the two Inquisitors try to kill the seemingly injured Sith Lord. However, Lord Vader uses the Force to hold the two Inquisitors and make them kill each other with their lightsabers. In her final moments, Akaris apologizes to Yaluna. The Twi'lek accepts her apology, stating that he did not expect them to die in bed after the choices they made. He says that they will at least be free. Vader stands over the two dead Inquisitors.

Reporting to the Emperor

At the Imperial Palace, Palpatine, the Emperor, questions Vader's claim that the two dead Inquisitors were traitors. Vader states that the Fifth Brother informed him that he had seen Thirteenth Sister allowing Mira, the wife of Eeth Koth, and their daughter to escape. He adds that the red Inquisitor only caught the child after realizing that she had been spotted. Vader claimed that the red Inquisitor was creating an alliance against the Sith and had corrupted the Twi'lek Inquisitor, requiring their removal.

The Emperor is angry that Lord Vader caused so much destruction across Coruscant while hunting them down. He is furious that Lord Vader's actions resulted in the death of Senator Maklooq, who was important to his plans. Vader worries that such chaos will hurt his ability to control the Galactic Empire. Vader reminds the Emperor that he was the one who gave him the Inquisitors. Vader agrees but says that he will move the Inquisitors to a new base away from Coruscant to prevent such problems from happening again.

Vader's request

The Emperor praises Lord Vader for killing Eeth Koth, a former member of the Jedi Council who he fears would cause trouble for them. Vader tells the Emperor that Koth was pretending to be a priest. The Emperor mocks Koth for choosing to hide as something similar to a Jedi and says that the Jedi are fools who deserve to die. To thank Vader for his work in hunting down the survivors of the Jedi Purge, the Emperor gives Lord Vader Padmé Amidala's former Naboo Royal Starship, who was a Senator.

A repair droid informs the Sith that the exterior should be fully restored in two days. Before the droid can finish, Vader throws it against the hangar wall, destroying it. The Emperor decides to let Vader handle the ship's design. Having read the Grand Inquisitor's report, the Emperor believes that the Jedi threat is currently under control, allowing the Empire to focus on other issues. He orders Lord Vader to travel to Alderaan to punish Bail Prestor Organa, a Senator who is not obeying.

Vader refuses to follow the order. When the Emperor asks why, Vader explains that he will do any other task he is given but asks that the Emperor give him a planet. The Emperor believes that Vader wants a place to improve his skills or his anger. The Emperor says that Coruscant is his world to control but offers to give other worlds, such as Naboo, Palpatine's former home. The Emperor also offers Tatooine as a place for Vader to get revenge for his suffering there many times over. Lord Vader refuses these planets and suggests Mustafar.
