Edict

Serving within the Imperial Navy, the Edict was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. By the time 4 ABY arrived, it was relegated to less critical duties such as training exercises and simulated battles, reflecting its aging status as a vessel. To support other initiatives, much of its original equipment had been removed, leaving only the essential systems operational. The starfighter contingent was also reduced, replaced by TIE drone fighters used for training. In the months immediately following the presumed death of Emperor Sheev Palpatine during the Battle of Endor, it was considered of low importance, and thus avoided conflict with New Republic forces.

The Edict later suffered a hyperdrive malfunction, which the crew was unable to fix due to the lack of necessary replacement parts. These parts, including a replacement generator, reactant agitator injector, coaxium suspension element, and twenty-eight Imperial-standard sealing bolts, were impossible to source amidst the Empire's fragmentation. For a number of weeks, the disabled Star Destroyer drifted in the Pormthulis system. Although the New Republic captured the vessel, they also failed to repair it, opting instead to let it continue its drift through the system under a starfighter escort.

After the Attack on Pandem Nai, the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing located the Edict. They successfully drove off the Republic escorts, reclaimed the ship, and liberated its remaining Imperial crew. The cruiser-carrier Allegiance was then cannibalized for its parts, allowing the Star Destroyer to be restored to operational status and serve under the 204th. Soran Keize proposed a celebration to welcome the Edict and its crew into the 204th. However, these festivities were interrupted by pilot Nord Kandende, who delivered news of Andara's fall to the New Republic, questioning the appropriateness of celebrating instead of engaging in combat. Following the Allegiance's sacrifice, its commanding officer, Captain Rogart Styll, was appointed as the commander of the Edict.
