Galia

During the Great Sith War period, Galia, a Human female, held the title of Queen on the Inner Rim planet Onderon. Her upbringing was significantly influenced by the dark side, as her parents, King Ommin and Queen Amanoa, were devoted Sith cultists. Galia's life unfolded amidst the Beast Wars, a time of unrest in Onderon's history, characterized by the conflict between the government of the walled city of Iziz and the Beast Riders, exiled criminals who utilized drexl warbeasts as their mounts. Eventually, she encountered Oron Kira, the leader of the Beast Riders, and a romantic connection developed between them. Aware of the impossibility of a relationship between the Onderon Princess and a Beast-Lord, they orchestrated a faked kidnapping in 4000 BBY and sought refuge at Kira's fortress outside Iziz to be married. However, their ceremony faced interruption from three Jedi Knights, brothers Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma, along with the Twi'lek Tott Doneeta, dispatched by Amanoa to retrieve her daughter. After sharing their narrative with the Jedi, Galia and Kira collaborated with the Knights to devise a strategy aimed at persuading Amanoa to peacefully resolve the Beast Wars.

Nevertheless, Amanoa dismissed their appeals, leading them to implement their alternative plan: a large scale Beast Rider army attacked Iziz. With the assistance of Jedi Master Arca Jeth, the Beast Riders achieved victory in the decisive battle of the Beast Wars, resulting in the Queen's perishing at the end of the conflict. Galia and Kira formalized their marriage under the laws of the Galactic Republic and assumed the roles of the new monarchs of Onderon. However, their challenges persisted, as two years later, Naddist cult members, akin to Galia's parents in their worship of former Dark Lord of the Sith Freedon Nadd, initiated a rebellion against their authority. Despite the darksiders briefly succeeding in ousting Galia and Kira from Iziz, the Naddists were ultimately defeated, restoring peace to Onderon. In 3996 BBY, Galia and her spouse encountered another threat: a Mandalorian fleet assaulted Onderon during one of the final battles of the Great Sith War; however, the Mandalorians faced defeat. For millennia following her death, Galia's descendants continued to govern Onderon.

Biography

Ascension to the throne

Galia, a Human female, was born into royalty as the offspring of King Ommin and Queen Amanoa of the Inner Rim planet of Onderon. Her formative years were spent in the Royal Palace of the walled city of Iziz, amidst the tumultuous Beast Wars, a period marked by conflict between Iziz and a clan of exiled dissenters who utilized the planet's indigenous fauna as mounts. Her parents were both practitioners of the dark side of the Force, belonging to the Naddist Sith cult and venerating the dead Dark Lord of the Sith Freedon Nadd. Galia, however, did not embrace the dark side herself. During her childhood, her father succumbed to a debilitating illness resulting from his dark side practices, necessitating his confinement to a mechanical life support exoskeleton within a subterranean fortress. At some point, Galia crossed paths with Oron Kira, the leader of the Beast Riders, who was covertly trading with the political underground in Iziz, leading to a romantic connection between them. Recognizing the impossibility of marriage between the Onderon Princess and a Beast-Lord, they conceived a plan to elope, staging her "abduction" by a Beast Rider team. She intended to seek refuge with Kira in the wilderness beyond Iziz's walls, seeking respite from the oppressive influence of the dark side.

Galia, at her marriage to Oron Kira

A trio of Jedi Knights, brothers Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma, accompanied by the Twi'lek Tott Doneeta, arrived on Onderon with the mission of brokering a peaceful resolution to the Beast Wars. Galia and her mother convened with the three Jedi in the Royal Palace's throne room, where Galia and Kira initiated their plan. Kira, along with another Beast Rider named Gobee, breached the throne room's windows atop their drexl warbeasts. Under the protection of reinforcements, they successfully reached the Princess's hiding place and carried out her abduction. Galia was transported to Kira's fortress, where her marriage to Oron Kira commenced without delay. However, the ceremony was disrupted by Doneeta and the Qel-Droma brothers, who stormed the castle riding tamed boma beasts, sent by Amanoa to retrieve her daughter. Ulic Qel-Droma managed to apprehend Galia, but upon her revelation that she willingly intended to marry Kira, she was released. With the conflict diffused, the Jedi were invited to partake in the wedding banquet. During the gathering, Galia, Kira, and Kira's father and grandfather disclosed the monarchy's dark side allegiance to the Jedi and sought their assistance in one final battle to end the Beast Wars. Despite Ulic Qel-Droma's preference for a peaceful resolution with Amanoa, a compromise was reached: Galia, Kira, and the Jedi would attempt to negotiate peace with the Queen in Iziz, but should that fail, the Kiras would lead a formidable Beast Rider army against Iziz.

During the meeting with the Queen, their attempts at peaceful negotiation proved futile. Amanoa accused the Princess of betrayal and rejected her daughter's relationship with Kira. Despite Galia's plea that her marriage to the Beast Rider could usher in a new golden age for Onderon, Amanoa invoked the power of the dark side against their group. Overwhelmed by the influence of Sith magic and under assault from palace guards, Galia led her husband and the Jedi to safety in her father's former laboratory. With Cay Qel-Droma still trapped in the throne room, Ulic resolved to return for him, instructing Doneeta to escort Galia and Kira to his starship, the Nebulon Ranger. However, instead of accompanying his wife and Doneeta to the ship, Kira departed to join the battle. The Beast Rider army initiated their assault but soon found themselves overwhelmed by Amanoa's dark power. Just as the Beast Riders appeared to be on the verge of defeat, Jedi Master Arca Jeth, the mentor of Doneeta and the Qel-Droma brothers, arrived in his ship, the SunGem, and turned the tide of the battle with his battle meditation ability, a development that Galia observed from Iziz's ramparts. Galia and Doneeta were soon joined by Kira and the Qel-Droma brothers as Jeth landed nearby. The Jedi Master led them into the deepest sublevels of the Iziz Royal Palace to find Amanoa; they finally encountered her by the sarcophagus of Freedon Nadd. Amanoa died in Galia's arms, and Galia blamed Jeth for killing her mother. However, Jeth explained that Amanoa's power had fled her and informed Galia that she was finally free from the shadow of the dark side. With the Beast Wars over, Galia and Kira had their marriage consecrated under the laws of the Galactic Republic, turning the two warring tribes of Onderon into one unified society. Galia took her place as Queen of Onderon, with Kira as the new king, in a ceremony that was attended by Jeth and the other Jedi.

The Naddist crisis

Galia and Oron Kira lead the funeral procession for Queen Amanoa and Dark Lord Freedon Nadd.

Following a period of relative tranquility after the Beast Wars, Queen Galia and Kira faced a fresh crisis two years later. Naddist cultists launched an open rebellion in Iziz, prompting Jeth to order the removal of Freedon Nadd and Amanoa's sarcophagi from the planet to mitigate the dark side's influence. The sarcophagi were to be relocated to a new tomb on the adjacent moon of Dxun. Galia and Kira presided over a solemn funeral procession through Iziz's streets, but the ceremony was disrupted by a Naddist strike force under the command of the cyborg warrior Warb Null. Null's forces emerged unexpectedly from beneath the planet's surface in a groundborer machine. The Naddist soldiers, composed of dissident members of the Royal Armed Forces, wreaked havoc on Galia's troops. A detachment broke away to target the Queen, but they were intercepted by Kira and a Beast Rider team. Ultimately, the Naddists successfully secured the sarcophagi, retreating from the battlefield in the groundborer upon achieving their objective.

In the aftermath of the skirmish, Jeth collapsed, overwhelmed by the dark side presence he had sensed during the conflict. Seeking an explanation, Galia suggested consulting her father, whom Jeth presumed to be deceased, believing he might offer assistance. Galia, Jeth, and Ulic Qel-Droma ventured to Ommin's subterranean fortress, while Kira, Doneeta, Cay Qel-Droma, and the Vultan Jedi Oss Wilum remained behind to safeguard the Royal Palace. However, after meeting with Ommin, they were confronted by the spirit of Freedon Nadd, summoned from Chaos by Galia's father. She witnessed Ommin's sudden resurgence and attack on Jeth, rendering him unconscious and engulfing him in dark side energy. The former King then turned his attention to Galia, seeking her collaboration in his dark side endeavors. Ulic Qel-Droma intervened but was attacked by Warb Null, whom he killed in defense of the Queen. However, amidst the distraction, Ommin abducted the incapacitated Jeth while Galia and Qel-Droma were engaged with the Dark Jedi.

Galia and Qel-Droma escaped from Iziz's sublevels to find the Royal Palace in ruins. Although Kira and the other Jedi survived the Naddist assault that razed the structure, the group was compelled to flee Iziz and regroup at Kira's fortress. While Galia's forces recuperated in preparation for an assault on the Naddists, the Queen received assistance from the Republic. Responding to Ulic Qel-Droma's plea, the Republic dispatched military aid, including elite Republic rocket-jumpers, to aid in their efforts to retake Iziz. By the time the rocket-jumpers arrived, Galia and her troops were besieged in the fortress, attempting to hold their ground alongside Kira's Beast Riders and the Jedi. The Republic troops successfully drove back the Naddists, enabling Galia and her allies to advance on Iziz. The city was ultimately reclaimed, the Naddists defeated, and Ommin perished in the battle. The sarcophagi of Amanoa and Freedon Nadd were recovered and interred alongside the former King Ommin in the Dxun tomb.

The Sith War and legacy

Oron Kira and Galia witness the early stages of the Mandalorian invasion of Onderon.

Around 3996 BBY, the galaxy was plunged into the chaos of the Great Sith War. Ulic Qel-Droma, now the Sith apprentice to Dark Lord Exar Kun, led a Sith army against the Republic and the Jedi Order. Despite initial Sith successes, aided by the Mandalorians, the Republic regained momentum. Near the war's end, Mandalore the Indomitable, leader of the Sith-aligned Mandalorians, launched a major assault on Onderon under Qel-Droma's orders. Galia and Kira observed the Mandalorian fleet from the Royal Palace balcony, prompting the King to mobilize his Beast Rider warriors for defense. After a fierce aerial battle, Kira and the Beast Riders triumphed over the Mandalorians, resulting in the death of the Mandalore at the skirmish's conclusion.

Galia and Kira's descendants maintained control of the Onderon throne for millennia, until a man named after Kira's father, Modon, held the title of king. By the time of their descendant Talia's reign as queen, the life and times of both Kira and Galia were common subjects of discussion among the people of Iziz.

Personality and traits

Despite their opposing sides in a civil war, Galia harbored a profound love for Oron Kira, willingly renouncing her royal status to marry him. Galia also cherished her parents, Queen Amanoa and King Ommin, even while recognizing her mother's perceived evil and growing weary of the dark side's influence. She mourned her mother's death deeply, blaming Jedi Master Arca Jeth for Amanoa's demise. Although she loved her father, she rarely visited him after his immobilization due to illness and feared his mastery of the dark side. Galia possessed considerable cunning, aiding in the formulation of her "abduction" plan to marry Kira. Above all, Galia and Kira desired peace for Onderon, seeking to unite the Beast Riders and Iziz. Initially skeptical of the Jedi Knights she encountered in 4,000 BBY, considering them novices, she developed great respect for them.
