Myn Donos

Myn Donos, hailing from Corellia, was a Human male pilot known for his service in Talon, Wraith and Rogue Squadrons, flying an X-wing. His contributions during the pursuit of the Warlord Zsinj are particularly noteworthy.

Biography

The time before Donos's integration into Wraith Squadron was marked by hardship, even when compared to his fellow squadron members, who were known for their misfortune. Serving as a sniper within the Corellian Armed Forces, Donos honed his skills as a marksman. However, he began to question the morality of his actions, troubled by the necessity of eliminating targets without warning.

Seeking to escape his internal conflict, Donos enlisted in Starfighter Command, rapidly advancing to the rank of lieutenant within a single year. Subsequently promoted to brevet Captain, he assumed command of Talon Squadron upon his graduation. Following Talon Squadron's annihilation in an Imperial ambush at Gravan Seven—with Donos as the only survivor—he was initially sidelined from active duty. However, he garnered the attention of Wedge Antilles when Antilles and Wes Janson began forming Wraith Squadron, a unique commando/pilot hybrid unit. Janson advocated for the inclusion of the traumatized pilot, motivated by both compassion and respect for Donos's aerial skills.

Before his service to the New Republic military, the Corellian military awarded Donos the prestigious Corellian Bloodstripe for exceptional bravery, but he ceased wearing it following the disaster at Gravan Seven. Tormented by the loss of his pilots, Donos displayed a somber and withdrawn demeanor during his early tenure with the Wraiths, where he operated as Wraith Nine and served as the squadron's designated sniper. Falynn Sandskimmer, a resilient pilot from Tatooine, attempted to support him through his depression, fostering a profound mutual attraction in the process.

Donos developed a strong bond with his Astromech droid, nicknamed Shiner, eventually regarding the droid as "the last Talon" due to its survival of the ambush. Consequently, Myn felt an overwhelming need to protect Shiner from any harm. When an Empion mine struck the squadron, rendering Shiner inoperative, Donos became unresponsive to all other communications until the droid was repaired.

During the conflict above M2398, Shiner met its end in a pirate ambush. In the wake of this loss, Donos entered a state of near catatonia, refusing to acknowledge or interact with the world around him. Ton Phanan, the Wraith medical officer, attributed this condition to a "concussion" sustained during the battle to safeguard Donos' career. Ultimately, the other Wraiths devised a method to break Donos out of his unresponsive state by immersing him in a Flight simulator recreation of the Gravan Seven mission. Enraged, Donos lashed out at his fellow squadron members, expressing his anguish at not having perished alongside the rest of Talon Squadron. Through the combined efforts of Kell Tainer and Tyria Sarkin, Donos was persuaded that he could better honor their memory by continuing to fight against the forces responsible for their deaths. This experience enabled Donos to confront his emotions rather than suppress them, and he finally began to reciprocate Falynn Sandskimmer's affections, leading to a relationship shortly thereafter.

In the battle that resulted in the destruction of the Implacable above Ession, Donos witnessed the deaths of both Sandskimmer and fellow Wraith Eurrsk Thri'ag. During the same engagement, he achieved a measure of vengeance for Talon Squadron. Upon spotting Apwar Trigit's customized TIE/In starfighter fleeing the doomed vessel, he joined forces with General Edor Crespin to pursue him. After Trigit initially refused to surrender, Donos launched a pair of proton torpedoes, denying Trigit a second chance to yield after his escort of two TIEs was eliminated. Trigit's ship was obliterated, resulting in the Admiral's death.

Following the arrival of new Wraith Lara Notsil, who received a message from her long-lost brother Tavin, Donos hypothesized that Warlord Zsinj had contacted Tavin and manipulated him into contacting Lara as a means of harming the Wraiths (at the time Donos was unaware that Lara Notsil was in reality an Imperial agent named Gara Petothel, and that she was the one who had provided Trigit with the information necessary to wipe out Talon Squadron.) Donos accompanied Lara to Aldivy for a reunion with her brother, resuming his role as a sniper to provide cover from a distance. When Tavin and his escort brandished weapons at Lara, Donos neutralized them with gunfire. He remained ignorant of the true circumstances of their encounter- Lara had initially reached out to Zsinj herself but eventually decided to reject Zsinj's service and remain with Wraith Squadron; the sudden deaths of both agents ensured the preservation of her secret.

Shortly thereafter, Donos began to develop feelings for Lara Notsil, who appeared to reciprocate his affection. When Garik Loran inadvertently exposed her deception to the Wraiths at Kidriff 5, Donos attempted to kill her, but narrowly missed and almost destroyed Loran instead. Antilles chose to classify the firing of Donos's weapons as "accidental," contingent upon Donos receiving medical and psychiatric treatment. With the support of his friends and comrades, Donos recovered from his emotional crisis and rejoined the squadron as they prepared to engage Zsinj near Kuat. During the ensuing battle, Donos urged the starfighter group to abort their attack on the Iron Fist (Executor-class) due to an impending ambush; Commander Wedge Antilles initially feared that this was a sign that Donos had relapsed into mental trauma stemming from the loss of Talon Squadron. In reality, Donos had recalled a training exercise from earlier in his career where Warlord Zsinj had lured starfighters into an asteroid field and opened fire on the surrounding asteroids, massacring the attackers. Thanks to his intervention, the New Republic forces were able to evade Zsinj's trap and launch a direct assault on the Iron Fist.

Following the battle with Zsinj at Selaggis VI, Myn accepted a position with Rogue Squadron, opting to continue flying rather than remain with the Wraiths, who were absorbed into New Republic Intelligence.

Donos served with the Rogues during the Thrawn campaign and participated in the Battle of Bilbringi, which resulted in Thrawn's demise. Subsequently, Rogue Squadron was deployed to the Hegemony theater, where they fought against Prince-Admiral Delak Krennel, a warlord and the leader of the Ciutric Hegemony. Donos fought in the Battle of Distna, where he was presumed dead along with most of the squadron. However, they were in fact rescued by TIE Defender squadrons commanded by Colonel Broak Vessery, an Imperial loyal to Ysanne Isard. Isard formed an alliance with Rogue Squadron against Krennel, arranging for them to utilize TIE Defenders to infiltrate Krennel's forces. Donos participated in the ensuing Battle of Ciutric, which led to the deaths of Krennel and a clone of Isard, as well as the liberation of General Jan Dodonna and other prisoners.

After the conclusion of the Zsinj campaign, Donos and Petothel—who had adopted the alias "Kirney Slane"—married, and by 40 ABY they had established a transport company called "Donoslane Excursions" on Corellia. By the year 44 ABY, they had also had at least two children.
