Lumpawaroo

Lumpawaroo, also called Waroo or Lumpy, was a male Wookiee born to Chewbacca and his wife, Mallatobuck, who are his parents. During the Age of the Empire, the Galactic Empire enslaved Waroo and his species. He, along with other Wookiee children, was forced to labor in a slave camp overseen by Commandant Dessard. Waroo managed to escape his labor camp after the liberation of Kashyyyk. Dessard and his men pursued him, eventually catching up. However, a combined force of Wookiees and New Republic soldiers killed the Imperials. Waroo was then reunited with his father, Chewbacca.

Biography

Chewbacca and his wife, Mallatobuck, were the parents of Lumpawaroo, making him their son. The Galactic Empire enslaved the Wookiees of Kashyyyk during the Age of the Empire.

In his youth, Lumpawaroo bravely ventured into the dangerous depths of Kashyyyk to locate wasaka berries, a task that even adult Wookiees hesitated to undertake. Later, Chewbacca shared this story with the bartender Midnight, who then recorded it in his journal, also mentioning how much he missed his son.

As a young one, Lumpy was separated from his father after his mother was taken away from him. Waroo, along with other Wookiee children, was compelled to work as a slave laborer in an Imperial child labor camp situated on the slopes of Mount Arayakyak. The Empire valued the Wookiees for their small hands and climbing abilities at high altitudes.

For the majority of his childhood, Waroo was a slave, working under the direction of Commandant Dessard. The Empire used inhibitor chips to control the Wookiees, which sounded like a terrifying and fiery song. Waroo once witnessed the death of a female friend as she attempted to scale the walls of the daubcrete bunker. In 5 ABY, after the liberation of Kashyyyk by New Republic forces, the inhibitor chips within Waroo and the other child slaves were deactivated. Despite Dessard and his subordinates' attempts to reassert control using shock-lances and blasters, Waroo found encouragement in the Imperial slave masters' demoralized state.

Driven by a desire for freedom, Waroo made a run for it while Commandant Dessard attempted to shut the pylon-gate. Waroo escaped into the jungle, leaping through trees and branches. However, he encountered a spore-pod that had defoliated much of the surrounding area. Dessard and his men caught up to Waroo and prepared to execute him. However, Greybok, his father Chewbacca, and several New Republic soldiers then shot the Imperials. Dessard managed to evade the blaster fire and was captured by New Republic soldiers. Waroo recognized his father, and after years of separation, the two embraced.

Lumpawaroo meets Rey

Between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Waroo celebrated Life Day alongside his father and his friend, Rey. While Waroo and his father were showing Rey the Life Day tree, they were ambushed by the bounty hunter Mwarr Ja'Randa.

Personality and traits

During the Age of the Empire, Lumpawaroo was a young male Wookiee. His Imperial masters valued him as a slave because of his small hands and climbing skills. Waroo detested his Imperial captors, referring to them as "milk-skins." The signals produced by the Imperial inhibitor chips were, in his opinion, a song that could drive someone insane. He also possessed a keen sense of smell, allowing him to detect his Imperial captors from a distance. Waroo found joy in the deactivation of the inhibitor chips and the despair of his Imperial captors. Waroo once made a desperate attempt to escape. He cherished his father Chewbacca and mother Malla. Following the Liberation of Kashyyyk, Waroo had a deeply emotional reunion with his father. Chewbacca proudly told the bartender Midnight that Lumpy was more skilled with tools than Chewbacca had been at his age.
