Greybok

Greybok, a tribal diplomat hailing from the Wookiee species, found himself enslaved and toiling in the spice mines of Sevarcos. These mines were under the oppressive control of the Galactic Empire. During the Battle on Sevarcos, he, along with fellow enslaved workers Hatchet, a Weequay, and Palabar, a Quarren, successfully achieved their freedom. Subsequently, Greybok and his newfound companions played a significant role in the liberation of Kashyyyk, the Wookiee's home planet.

Biography

Liberation on Sevarcos

Greybok lost an arm while enslaved.

Before the rise of the Age of the Empire, Greybok served as a tribal diplomat. However, when the Empire subjected the Wookiee species to enslavement, he too was captured and transported to the spice mines located on Sevarcos. His duties as a slave involved operating a pneumo-hammer to crush rock. After a failed attempt to escape the mines, his enslavers exacted a brutal punishment, severing one of his [arms](/article/limb].

Following the Battle of Endor, the Imperial mining operations on Sevarcos were attacked by forces of the New Republic. Greybok, alongside his fellow enslaved workers, Hatchet (a Weequay) and Palabar (a Quarren), observed the unfolding conflict. Hatchet proposed that they seize the opportunity to escape, but Greybok, supported by Palabar, insisted that they assist the Republic and fight against both the slavers and the Imperials.

Overruling Hatchet's objections, Greybok fearlessly entered the fray, hurling an Imperial soldier into a deep crevasse. He then made his way towards the enclosure where the slavers kept three rancors. Upon reaching the gate, the Wookiee relentlessly battered the lock with a rock, even while under fire from the Imperials, eventually freeing the rancors to attack the Empire's forces. As the first rancor emerged from its enclosure, it inadvertently knocked the gate into its Wookiee liberator, sending Greybok crashing into a rock. Dazed and vulnerable, the Wookiee was unable to defend himself when a Zygerrian slaver approached and shot him with a needler, intending to kill him with the weapon.

However, before the needler's poison could stop Greybok's heart, Hatchet intervened, crushing the slaver with a rock. Realizing he had been saved, the Wookiee lost consciousness, only to awaken after the battle had concluded and the Imperials and slavers had been defeated. Uncertain about their next steps, Hatchet inquired with a nearby New Republic soldier, who informed the trio that they were now free, but offered no further guidance. After the soldier departed, Hatchet suggested that they embrace their newfound freedom and go for a walk.

Liberation of Kashyyyk

In the year 5 ABY, Greybok, Hatchet, and Palabar joined Han Solo and Chewbacca in their mission to free Kashyyyk from Imperial domination. The Zabrak bounty hunter Jas Emari recruited them, along with a diverse group of Wookiee refugees. Together, the team journeyed to Kashyyyk aboard her gunship, the Halo. At Palabar's suggestion, the rebels utilized pneumo-hammers to drive eyebolts into the wroshyr trees, enabling Solo's team to establish firing positions against Camp Sardo's deflector shield generator.

When Hatchet expressed his reluctance to participate, Greybok silenced him by shaking him with his remaining arm. After Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer, deactivated the inhibitor chips that controlled the Wookiee population on Kashyyyk, Greybok and his companions served as gunners aboard Jas's gunship, the Halo. They engaged Imperial Forest troopers, LAIT gunships, and AT-ST walkers with their weaponry. Following an intense battle, Kashyyyk was liberated through the combined efforts of the Wookiees and the New Republic.

In the months following the liberation of Kashyyyk, Greybok accompanied Chewbacca, other Wookiees, and New Republic soldiers on operations to eliminate remaining Imperial forces. During one such operation, Greybok and his team shot several Imperial soldiers who had cornered an enslaved Wookiee child named Lumpawaroo, who happened to be Chewbacca's son. After Commandant Dessard was captured, Chewbacca and Waroo were reunited.

Personality and traits

Greybok was a Wookiee of considerable height. Before the Age of the Empire, he acted as a tribal diplomat. He suffered the loss of an arm while working in the spice mines of Sevarcos. His time as a slave gave him proficiency in using a pneumo-hammer to crush rock. Despite his missing arm, Greybok possessed enough strength to hurl an Imperial soldier in mechanized battle armor into a crevasse. After gaining his freedom, Greybok joined other Wookiee refugees in the liberation of Kashyyyk.
