Malcor Brashin, a male Human, achieved prominence as a Grand General within the Galactic Empire's Army during the Galactic Civil War. Despite his humble beginnings, the murder of his wife and daughter by nonhuman criminals transformed him into a fervent advocate of the New Order. This tragedy fueled his ascent to become one of the army's highest-ranking officers, where he oversaw the creation of the Battlefield Holographic Control Interface and acted as Brenn Tantor's superior throughout the young officer's career within the Empire.
During Tantor's initial assignments, Brashin supervised operations on the desert planet of Tatooine, the [mining](/article/mining/legends] world of Ruul, and the volcanic planet of Sarapin. He also commanded Tantor during later missions on Yavin 4, Hoth, the Forest Moon of Endor, and a concluding operation on the hilly world of Abridon. However, when Tantor defied an order to eliminate a refugee camp on Abridon, Brashin had him imprisoned. Although Tantor escaped and joined the Rebel Alliance, Brashin later attempted to capture him during a mission to the asteroid known as Trasse. Brashin was unsuccessful in preventing Tantor from completing his mission and escaping. By the time of the fall of the capital Coruscant, Brashin was in charge of the planet's defenses, where Tantor decisively defeated his forces.
Malcor Brashin, a male Human during the age of the Galactic Empire, entered a military academy at a young age, initially lacking notable ambition. Despite not being exceptional, he impressed his superiors as a capable and intelligent officer. A pivotal moment occurred when [Rodian](/article/rodian-legends] thieves killed his wife and daughter during one of his deployments. This tragedy transformed him into a zealous supporter of the New Order. Driven by a commitment to eliminate "unchecked anarchists and aliens," his newfound dedication to the Empire, coupled with a series of victories, propelled him through the ranks of the Imperial Army, ultimately reaching the position of Grand General.

Grand General Brashin, with a penchant for technology, oversaw the development of the Battlefield Holographic Control Interface. This advanced interface allowed an officer to command troops on a planet's surface from the safety of an orbiting starship. To identify promising candidates for BHCI training, Brashin enlisted the help of Captain Beri Tulon, a decorated training officer. During the Battle of Kalaan, Tulon encountered Brenn Tantor, a young stormtrooper, leading his squad after the death of their sergeant. Impressed by Tantor's leadership, Tulon promoted him to lieutenant and ordered him to report to the Inquisitor, the Star Destroyer from which Brashin commanded his forces.
Once Tantor was aboard the Star Destroyer, Brashin observed Tulon guiding him through training exercises on the planet Tatooine. During this time, Brashin interrupted Tantor's training and reassigned his squad to locate the escape pod ejected from the Tantive IV, containing the plans for the Empire's Death Star battlestation. When the plans were discovered missing, Brashin directed a series of operations to track down the droids carrying them. Despite Tantor's efforts, the droids escaped Tatooine aboard the Millennium Falcon, a freighter owned by the smuggler Han Solo, with a destination believed to be either Alderaan or the Ruul system.

During Tantor's training on Tatooine, Brashin grew concerned about Tulon's attitudes, believing his ethics were outdated and subversive. As the Millennium Falcon departed, Brashin took Tantor and Tulon with him on the Inquisitor to the planet Ruul, while Darth Vader headed to Alderaan aboard the Devastator. Though the Millennium Falcon had gone to Alderaan, Brashin's trip proved worthwhile when he discovered that Rebel forces had seized a computer facility on Ruul. Brashin approved as Tantor retook the computer complex and, with his brother Dellis Tantor's help, established data relay beacons from the facility to a broadcast antenna.
Impressed by Tantor's performance, Brashin promoted him over Tulon, making Tantor a commander reporting directly to him. Concerned about Tulon's traditional military values influencing Tantor, Brashin reassigned Tulon from the BHCI project. This allowed Brashin to directly guide his promising protégé, making it clear that he had lost confidence in Tulon and that the Captain's mistakes were not to be repeated. Reviewing data from the Ruul facility, Brashin learned that the Rebel Alliance had secretly taken control of several energy collectors on Sarapin, a geothermal energy source. Brashin deployed his forces under Tantor's command to Sarapin. Together, they retook the collectors with Dellis Tantor's technical expertise. Brenn Tantor, aided by his brother, also prevented a Rebel-captured drilling platform from causing destructive groundquakes, after fighting through significant Alliance forces.
During the Sarapin operation, Brashin learned that the Death Star had been destroyed over Yavin 4, with heavy casualties. To address this, Brashin promoted Brenn to major and Dellis to colonel, transferring the latter to Imperial Intelligence. Brashin and Brenn Tantor went to Yavin 4 on a mission to crush the Rebel base. Tantor destroyed the base and rescued Colonel Maximilian Veers, who had crashed on the moon after escaping the Death Star in a shuttle. Tantor's actions impressed even higher authorities than Brashin, earning him congratulations from Darth Vader. Over the next three years, Tantor became a general, with Brashin remaining his superior. Their most notable engagement was the Battle of Hoth, where Tantor oversaw Veers's assault on the Rebel Alliance's power generators and supervised the landing of Vader's attack force. Brashin and Tantor then moved to the Forest Moon of Endor, where Brashin identified three potential sites for the second Death Star's deflector shield generator. Brashin oversaw Tantor's exploration of these sites and selected the most suitable one. Despite Tantor's successful mission, Brashin was angered by his reluctance to attack the native Ewoks.
Without Brashin's knowledge, Tantor had learned about his superior's actions. Before the Battle of Hoth, Brashin discovered that Tantor had used his position in Imperial Intelligence to investigate his father. Tantor found out that his father had been killed by the Empire, not Rebels, for losing a grain shipment to pirates. Brashin responded by sending Dellis on a mission to Ruul, arranging for his capture and imprisonment. However, Dellis managed to convey his suspicions to Brenn before embarking on what he believed to be a suicide mission.

This knowledge tormented Brenn. Despite his doubts, Tantor successfully recaptured the Government Center and an Imperial base on Abridon, and apprehended Rebel hero Luke Skywalker. Following this victory, Tantor prevented Beri Tulon, now under his command, from defecting. After Tantor destroyed the last Rebel base, Brashin ordered him to destroy a nearby refugee camp as a warning against tolerating Rebels. Brashin soon realized that Tulon's teachings had stayed with Tantor, who refused Brashin's order. Enraged, Brashin locked him out of command frequencies and directly ordered Tantor's stormtroopers to carry out the order. Afterward, Brashin assigned Tulon to the Tarkin Detention Facility on Ruul and directed Tantor to report to Kalaan for a court-martial. He also informed Tantor that Dellis had been killed.
Upon arriving at Kalaan, Tantor was imprisoned in an outdoor cell, where Brashin informed him of his impending trial, conviction, and execution. However, Tantor had contacted General Tyr Taskeen of the Rebel Alliance and arranged to defect. Brashin assigned Tantor's own troops to guard him, but the stormtroopers remained loyal to Tantor and released him, along with Luke Skywalker and the Tracked Mobile Base, a prototype vehicle with a portable BHCI unit.
Brashin later encountered Tantor when he attempted to steal an All Terrain Armored Transport from the proving grounds of Trasse. Brashin arrived with his Star Destroyer, Inquisitor, disrupting Tantor's operation. He trapped Tantor and Beri Tulon, whom Tantor had rescued from the Tarkin Detention Facility, on the asteroid's surface. During their confrontation, Brashin expressed disappointment in his former student and denied Tantor's offer to defect. A battle ensued, during which Tantor captured the planetary ion cannon, which Tulon used to disable the Inquisitor. Tantor then escaped with the captured Imperial walker without further resistance.
Despite failing to stop Tantor at Trasse, Brashin remained a prominent general, even after the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader at the Battle of Endor. When the New Republic, formerly the Rebel Alliance, attacked the Imperial capital Coruscant, Brashin commanded the defense alongside General Tal Ashen, who oversaw the Imperial Palace. The New Republic sent Tantor against Brashin, who broke through his defenses and, with General Rand Talor, captured the Imperial Palace, freeing Dellis Tantor.

Malcor Brashin started as a competent and unassuming officer with an interest in advanced technology. However, the murder of his family by Rodian thieves fundamentally changed him. Anger transformed Brashin into a fanatical supporter of the New Order, fueling his career and driving him through the Army. This radicalism led him to reassign Beri Tulon when the Captain's moral positions clashed with Imperial doctrine. Brashin also advocated for harsh actions against enemies of the Empire, broadly defining this category.
Brashin treated Brenn Tantor with kindness and took pride in his accomplishments, though he remained somewhat distant. Before Tantor's insubordination, Brashin allowed him to control forces during engagements, supervising by providing general objectives and information. Even after Tantor's training, Brashin continued to supervise, allowing Tantor to handle tactics in battles. However, when Tantor refused to follow his orders, Brashin's goodwill vanished. He saw Tantor's defiance as a personal betrayal, and his kindness evaporated as he ordered his student's death.
Malcor Brashin first appeared in Star Wars: Force Commander, by Ronin Entertainment and LucasArts, released on March 21, 2000. David Warner voiced him in the game. In the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Brashin's name can appear as a leader for an AI Imperial in standard matches. Brashin was later briefly mentioned in The Official Star Wars Fact File 34, released on August 22, 2002. In the Fact File, his last name was misspelled "Brashen," and he was only mentioned as identifying three possible locations for the second Death Star's shield generator on Endor.
