A male Kallidahin named Maneeli Tuun hailed originally from the Polis Massa asteroid field. He communicated through sign language and possessed telepathic abilities. As an employee of the Archaeological Research Council stationed on Polis Massa, the Kallidahin was a member of the medical personnel that assisted in the delivery of Senator Padmé Amidala's twins in 19 BBY, after she was brought to an archaeological excavation site there. Later, around 34 ABY, the pirate Hondo Ohnaka utilized Tuun's stolen identity profile at Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu to evaluate prospective recruits for Ohnaka Transport Solutions.
Around 52 BBY, Maneeli Tuun, a male Kallidahin, was born within the Polis Massa asteroid field. Tuun began his work for the Archaeological Research Council at an archaeological dig site located on Polis Massa. The Kallidahin's work at the site was focused on discovering evidence of the extinct Eellayin species, who were believed to be the Kallidahin's ancestors, and to understand the reason for the destruction of the planet Polis Massa.
In 19 BBY, when the pregnant human Senator Padmé Amidala was transported to the dig site by her allies, Tuun became part of the medical team that assisted in delivering her twins, Luke and Leia. Amidala had also sustained severe injuries, and her condition was deemed so critical that Tuun and the rest of the team did not have time to change out of their caving jumpsuits. The team included only two trained physicians among the technicians, with the remaining members being xenobiologists typically assigned to the archaeological team to analyze organic tissue in artifacts. Despite the team's best efforts, Amidala died after the successful delivery of the twins. The dig site was subsequently abandoned entirely.
Around 34 ABY, during the First Order occupation of the planet Batuu, Tuun was 86 years of age. The pirate Hondo Ohnaka was in possession of the Kallidahin's stolen identity profile at this time, and he used it, along with other profiles, to assess potential new hires for his organization, Ohnaka Transport Solutions. Ohnaka intended to utilize these employees in a planned heist. He sent the profiles, including Tuun's, to the employees' datapads and then tested their ability to recall details from the data in order to evaluate their ability to memorize details from a cover identity.
Maneeli Tuun, like the other Kallidahin technicians at the Polis Massa dig site, had limited interactions with humans and, as a result, possessed little knowledge about their parturition. Tuun and his colleagues involved in the delivery displayed discretion in their duties, asking few questions of those who accompanied the pregnant Padmé Amidala. The team was perplexed by their inability to save the senator's life. Tuun had purple-and-white skin, red eyes, and lacked hair. The Kallidahin communicated using sign language and was telepathic. He stood at a height of 5 feet, 3 inches and weighed 50 pounds.
Tuun wore a blue-and-brown, form-fitting caving body-suit that revealed the Kallidahin's body growth-rings. The suit featured a remote control mounted on the left shoulder and a brown surgical hood sealed onto it at the neck. Tuun carried sample containers within the suit and had several silver cylinders attached to his left wrist.
Maneeli Tuun was conceived for the prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, but he was ultimately cut from the final version of the film, which premiered on May 19, 2005. Within the current Star Wars canon, Tuun's image first appeared in the twenty-second edition of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series, released around June 3, 2015. The character was then identified in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. Subsequently, Tuun made his debut appearance in Star Wars: Datapad, an application launched alongside the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which opened its doors to visitors at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Maneeli Tuun was initially mentioned in the reference book Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: The Visual Dictionary, authored by James Luceno and published on April 2, 2005.
