Marnia Un'la'na was a highly skilled Twi'lek pilot, considered an ace, who secretly provided information to the First Order as an informant. She journeyed to the supertanker fuel depot known as the Colossus in 34 ABY to participate in the All Aces Battle Royale sky race. While there, Un'la'na connected with a First Order contact, an Ugnaught, to discuss her assignment: transmitting a substantial data cache to Major Elrik Vonreg.
During the competition, Un'la'na made an attempt to send the intelligence, planning to use the race's high volume of communication to mask her actions. However, Kazuda Xiono, a spy working for the Resistance, detected the Twi'lek's transmission and relayed it to his superiors in the Resistance, Poe Dameron and Leia Organa.
Marnia Un'la'na, the Twi'lek ace pilot, served as an informant, providing intelligence to the First Order. At some point in her career, she entered the All Aces Battle Royale sky race, though she was not victorious. During her time working with the First Order, she maintained communication with a Ugnaught who was also in their service. At some point, Poe Dameron, a Resistance operative, became aware that Un'la'na was an informant. In 34 ABY, Dameron instructed Kazuda Xiono, a spy stationed on the supertanker fuel depot Colossus, to notify him if he ever encountered Un'la'na on board.
Later that year, Un'la'na traveled to the Colossus to compete in the All Aces Battle Royale and visited Aunt Z's Tavern while present. Xiono noticed her and decided to use BB-8, the Resistance's astromech droid, to monitor her activities. Soon after, Un'la'na met with her Ugnaught contact to discuss her next task for the First Order: transmitting a large data cache to Major Elrik Vonreg during the All Aces Battle Royale, taking advantage of the event's heavy comm traffic to conceal the transmission. She expressed her irritation with the Ugnaught for contacting her and potentially jeopardizing the operation, while reaffirming her commitment to completing the task.
Having overheard the pair's conversation, Xiono quickly informed Dameron about Un'la'na's intentions. Dameron instructed him to join the All Aces Battle Royale and fly closer to the Twi'lek's racer to intercept her transmission. After stealing the backup racer belonging to a pilot from the planet Hosnian Prime, Xiono entered the race using the alias "Bolt-Shatterer-K."
Following the race's commencement, signaled by announcer Jak Sivrak, Un'la'na quickly advanced to the front of the racers. Although Xiono initially lagged behind, he insisted to BB-8 that they needed to overtake the Twi'lek before she initiated her transmission. Eventually, the Resistance spy flew within range of Un'la'na's ship and instructed BB-8 to activate their encryption recorder to capture her message. However, when Hype Fazon's racer—the Green Ace—collided with his ship, Xiono's vessel briefly moved out of range of Un'la'na's racer. Despite the damage to the spy's racer, his encryption recorder successfully captured the Twi'lek's transmission.
Un'la'na continued to extend her lead in the race, and Sivrak announced her progress to the spectators. She noticed Xiono gaining on her and did her best to evade him on the racecourse, much to the spy's frustration. As the race progressed, Sivrak announced when Un'la'na had officially taken the lead. Un'la'na continued to pull ahead and ultimately won the race and its prize, setting a new speed record for the course.
As soon as Xiono's device had recorded her complete transmission, he crash-landed his damaged ship on a landing pad. The spy discovered that the encryption recorder used to gather the information had been destroyed during the race, but he managed to recover the data from a backup shortly afterward and gave it to Dameron, who, along with Resistance General Leia Organa, decoded the information.
Marnia Un'la'na demonstrated a willingness to engage in risky clandestine activities to send information to the First Order and became irritated when a colleague implied she might fail. While confident in her skills, she also believed that excessive communication about the mission could jeopardize it. Un'la'na was a Twi'lek with orange skin and blue eyes.
While on the Colossus, Un'la'na wore a light-blue jumpsuit with yellow accents on the sleeves and near the collar. She completed the outfit with a yellow headband, yellow gloves, a dark gray belt, and dark gray boots. During the All Aces Battle Royale, she wore a light-blue flight helmet with a tinted visor. As a pilot, Un'la'na possessed a purple starship that was well-suited for high-stakes racing. The vessel also had the capability to transmit large quantities of encrypted data.
Marnia Un'la'na was a character created for "All Aces Battle Royale," a comic story authored by Kevin Burke and Chris "Doc" Wyatt and illustrated by Valentina Pinto. The story was published by IDW Publishing in the sixteenth issue of the 2017 Star Wars Adventures comic series, released on December 19, 2018.
