Nath Tensent's squadron

A group of TIE fighter series starfighters was under the command of Nath Tensent, a TIE fighter pilot, who worked for the Galactic Empire. They operated a criminal syndicate within the Outer Rim until the Empire discovered their activities, which led the squadron to defect to the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 1 BBY because they feared Imperial retribution. This squadron participated in more than fifty operations while flying BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bombers, and they eventually attacked the Trenchenovu shipyards sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY.

However, the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing set an ambush for Tensent's squadron, which forced the pilots to cease their bombing mission. While trying to get away, the pilots under Tensent's command died one after another, leaving only Tensent and his second-in-command, Reeka. Because Reeka's astromech droid was destroyed, Tensent had no choice but to leave her behind and escape to the Entropian Hive to repair his ship.

Description

The [squadron](/article/squadron] consisted of TIE fighter series starfighters when they were part of the Galactic Empire and was headed by the human Nath Tensent and his trusted second, Reeka. When they joined the Rebel Alliance, the pilots utilized BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bombers.

History

Service in the Empire

During the Imperial Era, the squadron served the Galactic Empire under the leadership of Nath Tensent. At first, they were under the command of a colonel located in the Western Reaches. In addition to their official duties, they managed a criminal operation spanning eight star systems within the Outer Rim. They collected a portion of the earnings from pirates and smugglers in exchange for turning a blind eye to their activities, while simultaneously charging legitimate businesses for protection from those same pirates. Eventually, the Empire discovered the squadron's illicit activities and initiated an investigation into their widespread corruption. To avoid the consequences, Tensent's entire squadron defected to the Rebel Alliance, which aimed to overthrow the Empire, in 1 BBY. The squadron then participated in more than fifty operations for the Alliance.

Attack on the Trenchenovu shipyards

Six months prior to the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Tensent led his squadron in an attack targeting the Trenchenovu shipyards as a favor to General Lexei. The squadron dedicated six weeks to preparation and training for this mission. On the day of the attack, Tensent's squadron approached the shipyards to carry out a bombing run. However, just before they could release their bombs, the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing ambushed the squadron. The ambush resulted in the death of a young pilot named Piter at the hands of the TIE fighters. Tensent and Reeka decided to abort the mission, ordering the squadron to deploy their payloads in an attempt to disrupt the TIE fighters' pursuit.

Tensent's squadron ascended, having lost two more pilots, Canthropali and Shol Mordeaux, but their escape route was blocked by the arrival of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Sanction, which emerged from hyperspace near the Trenchenovu shipyards. Tensent instructed his squadron to scatter and seek cover beneath the shipyards, planning to escape on the opposite side. One of Tensent's pilots, Braigh, transmitted a message on multiple frequencies, offering to betray the Alliance to the Empire in exchange for her own life. After Braigh was killed, Pesalt, a rebel pilot, crashed while attempting to evade the pursuers, and another pilot named Rorian was lost when his Y-wing's engines suffered a catastrophic overload. Tensent and Reeka were the only pilots remaining after Ferris perished while ejecting from his Y-wing.

Tensent and Reeka managed to destroy three TIE fighters, but Reeka's astromech droid was destroyed in the process. Upon reaching the far side of the shipyards, Tensent was forced to abandon his last remaining comrade and flee for his own survival. As the sole survivor, he sought refuge at the trading post known as the Entropian Hive, where he repaired his Y-wing. After conducting some investigation, Tensent discovered that the Empire had been monitoring his squadron's communications for a month after successfully deciphering their security codes. Tensent later recounted the story of his squadron to Lieutenant Yrica Quell, a former pilot from the 204th who was recruiting him for a working group tasked with dismantling the fighter wing. He often recalled the events surrounding his squadron and shared its story with other pilots, such as Chass na Chadic and Wyl Lark, who were members of the working group he had joined.
