Known as Oakie, Platt Okeefe was a human female who managed to escape from the bonds of slavery and subsequently rose to prominence as a renowned smuggler, a champion for freedom, and a successful entrepreneur. Born on the world of Brentaal IV, her life unfolded during the Imperial Era, under the Galactic Empire's rule. Okeefe once found herself in possession of the famed Smuggler's Guide.
Hailing from the Core Worlds planet of Brentaal IV, Platt Okeefe was a human female who broke free from slavery and went on to achieve fame as a smuggler, a freedom fighter, and an entrepreneur. After losing several ships to the dangers of her profession, including one that crashed on Tatooine while evading pursuing bounty hunters, Platt Okeefe acquired a YT-1300 light freighter. She extensively customized this vessel and christened it the Last Chance. She had a droid mechanic on staff and held a special fondness for the Ghtroc 720.

Okeefe, at one point, obtained the Smuggler's Guide, which contained lists of the most profitable items for smuggling, reliable transport options, a directory of shadowports, and a roster of potential clients seeking the services of freelance smugglers. She also considered creating her own guide, intended for distribution only among experienced individuals, granting basic access to those who successfully completed five Sisar Runs and advanced access to those who completed three Kessel Runs.
- Smuggling cargoes : Aurodium sourced from the Brentaal Trading Houses, greel wood originating from the Pii system, and oro-weave from Chandrila, along with other goods like meleenium, durelium, hyperbarides, Corusca stones, beskar, quella gems, and prismatic crystals. Regarding spice, she advised sticking to varieties such as andris, carsunum, and sansanna_spice, while cautioning against trafficking types like ryll or the spice mined on Kessel. [1]
- Reliable haulers : The Ghtroc 720, which she held in high regard, the GX1 short hauler from Lantillian ShipWrights, known as the spacer's "old reliable," the Surronian L19 heavy freighter, advising pilots against buying a new one unless they had a skilled mechanic, and the YT-2400 light freighter, suggesting it could be stolen if one could evade the void-droids in the Zero Drift. She recommended avoiding Gymsnor, the TL-1200 transport, or anything manufactured by Balmorran Heavyworks. [1]
- Shadowports : Junkfort Station, Port Bianco, Byblos, Dandrian Ring, Gelgelar Free Port, Resh 9376, and Tanquilla Beach, while advising against Omze's Incredible Traveling Starport, particularly for humans. She also suggested visiting Batuu, despite its status as not being a shadowport. [1]
- Smuggling clients : Glasfir Ring, Klatooinian Trade Guild, Mandroxan Cartel, Ororo Transportation, Kheedar Ring, Droid Gotra, Lantillian Spacers' Brotherhood. [1]
After accepting a job to deliver a shipment of Jovaninan gorefruit to a contact on Panna's Redwater moon, Platt recorded in the Smuggler's Guide logbook that she was pleased with the assignment because it afforded her the opportunity to revisit a gambling establishment in the Offworlders' Block.
Later on, she lost the guide, her Herglic chronometer, and 603 credits to Lando Calrissian in a game of pazaak, a consequence of her fondness for Novanian grog. As Lando departed with his winnings, Okeefe confronted him, accusing him of employing dishonest tactics. The two later reconciled at the Far Orbit bathhouses. After recovering from an injury inflicted by an Imperial officer, she released her own guide, titled Smuggler's Handbook, drawing inspiration from Maz Kanata's Smuggler's Guide.
Platt Okeefe possessed light skin and blue eyes. She achieved renown as a smuggler, a freedom fighter, and an entrepreneur. In her younger years, Platt playfully referred to herself as a "smuggler extraordinaire". She demonstrated concern for her fellow smugglers and willingly shared insights into the smuggling trade, both in Maz Kanata's Smuggler's Guide and in her own Smuggler's Handbook. However, she reserved this knowledge for those she deemed knowledgeable.
