Reena University, a highly regarded institution of higher learning, was situated on the planet Reena, from which it derived its name. During the era known as the High Republic, Axel Greylark, a member of the influential Greylark family, was a student there. Sometime later, Ansibella Dellu, holding a position in student government, created a promotional poster for a series of talks presented by Count Dooku.
Reena University welcomed students from all corners of the galaxy to study within its ancient halls. The curriculum encompassed various disciplines, including mineralogy, religious studies, and political ideologies of the Outer Rim.
A range of extracurricular activities were offered at the university, such as student government, galactic debate competitions, several musical ensembles, and the sport of grav-ball. Additionally, a special festival was organized annually to celebrate the Queen's Bloom phenomenon. The Reena University festival featured a petting zoo with exotic animals, food vendors, educational booths explaining the science of the phenomenon, games for children, and performances by the university's musical groups.
The university grounds contained numerous buildings. These structures were towering, constructed from shining metal and glass, and a sizable fairground occupied part of the campus. Certain areas were even paved with marble. There were at least two dormitory towers, including the east tower which housed Axel Greylark's room. His room included a lounge and a window. University regulations prohibited parties within the dormitories. Other facilities included lecture halls, such as the Panos Lecture Hall, a laboratory, a library, a cafeteria, an atrium, common rooms, and corridors for servants.
Around 397 BBY or earlier, a teenage Axel Greylark was a student at Reena University. While it was not his first choice for education, his mother, Kyong Greylark, insisted that he attend a prestigious university in the Colonies. Greylark was enrolled in an accelerated program, achieving high grades, only surpassed by Lord Kozmo Sundrel IV of Luzalite. He participated in grav-ball as a center striker and excelled in galactic debate tournaments. However, Greylark frequently skipped classes and engaged in pranks. Ry Harket, the dean of student life during Greylark's time, suspected him of being responsible for several pranks, including graffitiing the atrium with inappropriate drawings, releasing mynocks from the laboratory, and flooding the refreshers in one of the dormitories. Greylark also often feigned illnesses to avoid classes and other obligations. He experimented with different methods, eventually settling on using guiji fire peppers to simulate the symptoms of malongo pox. By the time of the Queen's Bloom Festival one term, Greylark had accumulated 30 excused absences, all approved by nurse droids. This led to an investigation by the university administration, but they found no evidence of tampering with the droids.
Despite his misbehavior and truancy, Greylark made efforts to build meaningful relationships with fellow students, as well as university faculty and staff. He made it a point to learn the names of every groundskeeper, cook, and adjunct professor at Reena University, enjoying hearing their stories. On one occasion, he overheard a Twi'lek janitor requesting an advance on his wages from the dean to cover his daughter's surgery. When the dean refused, Greylark provided the man with credits to help. This fostered goodwill between Greylark and the university staff, despite the frustration he caused for Harket.
Axel Greylark formed at least two significant relationships with other Reena University students. He became romantically interested in Leyli Romero, a girl from Kilotowan. Greylark initially noticed her spending much time alone, and they quickly became friends. Greylark also developed a rivalry with Kozmo Sundrel, which eventually evolved into a closer friendship. During the Queen's Bloom phenomenon one term, Count Vennerson suggested to Lexxir Greylark that his daughter, a first-year student at Reena University, be introduced to Axel.
Centuries later, during or before the Separatist Crisis, Count Dooku, the leader of the Independent Movement for Self-Determination, was scheduled to deliver a series of lectures at the university's Panos Lecture Hall, known as the Reena University Lecture Series. Ansibella Dellu, a student government official at Reena University, began creating an advertising poster titled Count Dooku: Words of Truth.
