Salman Paak was a male human living on the planet of Ferrix during the Imperial Era. He ran the Repaak Salyard there alongside his son, named Wilmon Paak. At one point, Paak went to a Separatist gathering on the planet of Jondora. There, he encountered a woman who suggested that if he truly cared about politics, he could serve as a go-between upon his return to his homeworld. He was given a fractal radio unit and compensated for keeping it operational. Following a meeting with the rebel Luthen Rael, Paak introduced him to Bix Caleen, a local mechanic. When Caleen had Galactic Empire equipment to sell that she had stolen, she used Paak's junction box to contact Rael. Two years later, a group of Preox-Morlana Corpos arrived searching for Cassian Andor, who had murdered two Corpos, Kravas Drezzer and Verlo Skiff, stationed on Morlana One. Paak, alerted by his son, helped raise the alarm in the town to deter the approaching soldiers. Later, Paak and Wilmon assisted in freeing Caleen, who had been handcuffed to a pipe by several Corpos.
After Caleen used the comm unit again to try and locate Andor when his mother, Maarva Andor, was feeling unwell, the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) discovered the device and arrested Paak. He was tortured for information. Despite having little rebellious activity to his name, ISB Lieutenant Dedra Meero noted his strong resistance, leading her supervisor to suspect motivations beyond money. Eventually, Paak revealed information about Caleen and Rael, but did not give the rebel's name. The day after Paak's capture, Wilmon demanded to know his father's whereabouts, drawing a crowd of Ferrix residents, including Caleen, to the salyard. Caleen's use of the comm unit had alerted the ISB to Paak. Captain Vanis Tigo, the lead Imperial officer, spotted Caleen and ordered his stormtroopers to apprehend her, causing her to flee. They caught her and brought her to a room in Hotel Rix, the Imperials' makeshift headquarters, where a tortured Paak was present. Meero ordered Paak removed as Caleen called out to him, receiving no response.
Prefect Tigo later suggested to Meero that they should hang Paak as a warning to the other residents of Ferrix, which she approved. Angered by his father's passing, Wilmon constructed an explosive device and used it to attack the Imperials during the Rix Road riot, which was also a funeral procession for Maarva Andor. Wilmon was identified during the attack but managed to escape Ferrix on a transport with Brasso, Caleen, Jezzi, and Andor's droid B2EMO.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Salman Paak lived on the planet Ferrix, situated within the Free Trade sector, where he and his son, Wilmon Paak, managed the Repaak Salyard. In 7 BBY, Salman Paak attended a Separatist meeting on Jondora where he encountered a woman who proposed that, if he was serious about politics, he could serve as a liaison upon his return to his homeworld, leveraging its unique commercial position to obtain stolen Imperial equipment. He soon received a fractal radio and was compensated for maintaining it. He also met with the rebel Luthen Rael at some point, before connecting him with Bix Caleen, the mechanic from Ferrix. Caleen then became the liaison on Ferrix, utilizing the junction box located deep within Paak's salvage yard to contact Rael when she had items to sell. Two years after his trip to Jondora, in 5 BBY, Caleen entered the Repaak salyard where Wilmon made his father aware of her presence. Caleen asked for a "Bendine Mesh-Tech filter," and Paak directed her to the yellow racks in the back. In reality, Caleen had used a code phrase to request permission to use the comm unit he was sent, as she had an item that her friend Cassian Andor needed to sell quickly. She proceeded to the back of the yard and contacted Rael. That same night, when the Time Grappler struck his beskar anvil with a hammer, signaling the end of the workday, Paak and Wilmon closed their yard.

Prior to this, Andor had journeyed to Morlana One to follow a lead regarding his sister, whom he had not seen since he was a child. While there, he became involved in an incident with two Preox-Morlana Corpos, who were a corporate police force in the Free Trade sector. Andor killed the corpos, Kravas Drezzer and Verlo Skiff, after they harassed him, and then fled the planet. Pre-Mor Enforcement dispatched an inspection team to arrest Andor for his crimes. Upon their arrival, Wilmon spotted the Corpos and alerted his father. Paak then ran to the Caleen Salyard, owned and operated by Caleen and her partner, Timm Karlo. He informed Caleen about the Corpos' arrival and that they were at the house of Cassian's mother, Maarva Andor. Paak inquired about the situation and asked if she had seen the bulletin Pre-Mor had issued the previous night—they were searching for a Kenari male on Ferrix. Despite this, they couldn't have identified Andor as the perpetrator, leading Caleen to believe someone had betrayed him to Pre-Mor. She prepared to warn Cassian but was stopped by Karlo, who insisted Andor could handle himself. As Karlo was unaware of her conversation with Paak, Caleen grew suspicious of her partner and realized he had betrayed Andor. In disbelief, Caleen ran to find Andor, leaving a shocked Paak to ask Karlo what he had done.
As the Corpos moved through the streets in search of Andor, Paak hurried back to his salvage yard, urging Wilmon to leave. He began striking a pipe hanging from a chain, alerting the residents of Ferrix to the arrival of the Pre-Mor soldiers. Wilmon began drumming on another hanging metal piece, prompting bystanders to do the same on other pieces of metal, attempting to intimidate the Corpos. Soon, the sound of metal filled the entire neighborhood. A shootout ensued between Andor and the Corpos, who escaped the planet with Rael, who had come to buy Andor's item and recruit him. During this time, Caleen was apprehended and handcuffed to a pipe while trying to warn Andor, and Karlo was killed attempting to rescue her. Paak and Wilmon soon freed Caleen from her makeshift imprisonment, dragging her away from Karlo's corpse.
Sometime after Cassian's escape from Ferrix, Maarva became ill, leaving Caleen to care for her. In an attempt to locate Cassian and inform him of Maarva's condition, Caleen tried to contact Rael using Paak's comm unit. Paak cautioned against it, as the Imperial Security Bureau, or "ISB," would be monitoring frequencies for Cassian, but eventually allowed Caleen to contact Rael. However, she received no response from the rebel on Coruscant. Paak was soon arrested by the ISB and taken to Hotel Rix, which had become the Imperial operations center, and a group of Ferrix residents gathered outside his salyard. The lead Imperial on the scene, Captain Vanis Tigo, spotted Caleen in the chaos and ordered her arrest, and she was soon apprehended after attempting to flee. She was taken to the hotel and met ISB Lieutenant Dedra Meero, who had been torturing Paak for information on the anti-Imperial movements on Ferrix. Caleen was taken to a room where a depleted Paak lay, who was soon moved away from the room so that Meero could interrogate Caleen. He then disappeared into Imperial custody and was executed.
Paak wore a green coat, dark gray pants, brown fingerless gloves, and black boots.
Salman Paak made his debut in Episode 1 of Andor, where he was played by Abhin Galeya.
