Star Wars: Visions
Star Wars: Visions is an anthology series of animated short films, presented as non-canonical tales. Its first season showcased nine original short films, inspired by anime from various Japanese animation studios, offering a unique cultural interpretation of Star Wars. The series made its debut on the streaming platform Disney+ on September 22, 2021. A novel called Ronin is connected to the short film "The Duel." Each Visions short is accompanied by a featurette, Star Wars: Visions Filmmaker Focus, which explores its creation and provides behind-the-scenes insights. On May 29, 2022, it was revealed that a second volume of Star Wars: Visions would be released, expanding its scope to include animation studios from across the globe. This second volume premiered on May 4, 2023. On November 19, 2024, the announcement of a third volume of Star Wars: Visions was made, with a planned release in 2025. Volume 3 will refocus on the series' initial emphasis on anime, featuring four returning and five new animation studios.
Official description

Star Wars: Visions will present entirely new and creative interpretations of the galaxy far, far away through a series of animated short films. This anthology collection will celebrate Star Wars through the eyes of the world's top anime creators. It will showcase remarkable visions from several leading Japanese anime studios, providing a novel and diverse cultural lens through which to view Star Wars.
Continuity
To give the storytellers maximum creative latitude in crafting their Visions shorts, Lucasfilm permitted them to deviate from the established Star Wars timeline. Matt Martin from the Lucasfilm Story Group has stated that this means all shorts are considered non-canon. Although some shorts, such as "Tatooine Rhapsody," could potentially align with canon, no source has yet integrated a Visions story into the official Star Wars timeline.
