"Sugaan Essena" is a song created by The Agasar, a band. While ship-scrapping for the Scrapper Guild on Bracca, Cal Kestis listened to this song using a headset-like device around 14 BBY. This occurred during his time under their employment. Later, Kestis recognized the band behind the song when he was made to fight at the Haxion Brood's gladiator arena located on Ordo Eris.
In 9 BBY, Kestis used priorite to buy the track from Doma Dendra, a merchant at Dendra's Antiquities on the planet Koboh. He then gifted it to Ashe Javi, a music producer, and DD-EC, a DJ droid. Subsequently, the musicians included the song in their performances at Pyloon's Saloon.

The 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order features a portion of the song in its initial scenes. The Hu, a Mongolian band, crafted the piece, performing it in a unique Star Wars language made specifically for the game. With the input of the game's developers, The Hu created the language, drawing from the strength of Eternal Blue Sky and its link to power in Star Wars, while also weaving elements of their Mongolian heritage into their band's identity.
The phrase "Sugaan Essena" translates to "The Black Thunder." It embodies the spirit and heart of a warrior, likening it to the force of thunder, a trait mirrored by Cal Kestis.
Electronic Arts uploaded a music video to YouTube on February 18, 2020, showcasing the band's performance of an extended version of the song, which was not included in the game.
On February 2, 2022, the band launched their second album, "Rumble of Thunder", featuring a Mongolian take on the song, entitled "Black Thunder." A further iteration, enriched with English lyrics and featuring Serj Tankian alongside Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz from Bad Wolves, debuted on March 30, 2023.
Within the 2023 video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, players can acquire the song for three priorite at Doma Dendra's store in Rambler's Reach Outpost on Koboh. If Ashe Javi and DD-EC have been recruited, the song can then be played at Pyloon's Saloon.
